Just thought I would post this link to a page to make remote releases using your walkie talkie. Sounds like a great idea for fairly inexpensive remotes.

Wish some one would come up with a way to utilize a walkie talkie to make sound in the field that is louder than my tri tronics. In some conditions the noise just isn't loud enough from them and I am not going to change to dogtra or any other release. Just need one station with a fairly loud sound, so maybe someone smarter than me (most folks on here) can figure it out.

Re: Remote release made from a walkie talkie
Marty, I bet with some thought you could figger out how to use the other side of the remote (if winger is on red, use green for sound), to make some kinda beeper or buzzer that'd be louder. I dont know about electronics but if you knew the voltage it puts out (you could ck with meter) you could know what kinda speaker it'd power... might have to use some kinda 'coil' like from a car radio shop to change the ohms to the speaker (like we used to put coils to cut out everything but the bass when building speaker boxes).
I got 2 old style and one new style zinger, so one of my remotes goes on upside down to make it all on the same side... so sometimes my sound is facing the wrong way. I dont use sound much, but when you need it, you need it. I like my old style wingers, they'll bite the unspecting loader if you aint careful! travis
