Re: NEEP HELP!
there is some type of refuge just north of Starkville on 389 that I see ducks on all the time and there is a game warden headquarters there but not really sure if you can hunt it???
They have draw hunts out at the noxubee co refuge for duck hunting and I think there is some public land to deer hunt on as well..
Several deer clubs around Starkville, not sure if they are needing members or not??

Welcome to the site and enjoy Starkville! Be a courteous and responsible public land hunter, remember you are a guest in our back yard (even though you will be her for 4-7 years for school, you are still a guest). Be polite to the locals and leave the ego and whatnot at home! Your public land experience will be much more enjoyable, I can assure you of that. Meet friends at school that share your same hobby and hunt with them when they invite you. Trade them a deer or turkey hunt in Alabama.

Re: NEEP HELP!
Most of the duck hunting around Starkville is either private or draw hunts. Put in for hunts on the refuge and at Trim Cane. You can show up at the refuge and hope for somebody not to show up on their draw. But remember, as stated above, you are a guest and an OOSer, so you'll have to be a little extra respectful to get some respect at those places. I graduated a few years back with a degree in Wildlife Science and met some of my best friends there in Thompson Hall. Good luck man.

We used to hunt the Ten Tom north of westpoint with good success. More than likely with your major, you will have a local guy in your classes that has land or access to it.

Look for muddy 4x4 trucks with toolboxes and ag bumper stickers with tags in the following locations: Tunica, Coahoma, Quitman, Tallahatchie, Bolivar, Sunflower, Leflore, Washington, Humphreys, Sharkey, Issaquena, or Warren. Become their best friend. Buy their beer, hook them up with your single friends, bail them out of jail....etc. You get the picture?

Re: NEEP HELP!
and whatever you do, (if invited or whatever) don't go back to Alabama tellin all the natives where a duck killing took place, or even where a place that "looks ducky" may be located....and for gods sake dont go bringing the "hometown" Alabama boys over here. That is all...
You can improve your chances with hookin up with a real deal holifield killa by slappin one of the following bumper stickers on your unit:
Will trade duck hunt for a dirt track race
Have Advantage wetlands will travel
