We are in Rienzi and have a few ducks on our new pond, and it is about 2 acres. What I want to know is how much do you have flooded at the shack? Do we need to look into making a bigger pond?

Hey DixieBoy, good to hear from you... i don't think that size plays a big part in attracting ducks so much as the history of the hole...

all togeather i have about 15 acres of flooded timber and open water... but like bass fishing a big lake, i found that only certain parts attract ducks better than others.. my hole dates back some 55 years and has been a spot for many hens to instill memories for their young brood on each trip each fall...

you are in a good location to attract ducks with Hatchie and Tuscombia river bottoms along with some big lakes in your area... i once was a member of a duck club just south of you and it held lots of ducks... you need to get a program togeather to attract ducks and it will get better each year... let the hens fly and they will return with their young next year.... it don't take as long as you might think...
two acres is a plenty, it just needs to be attractive to bring them and keep them... good luck and holler if i can be of any help...

one more piece of advise, don't leave too early... expect the best too be from 9 til noon.. let them bust the ducks off Tuscombia and they will be looking for your water hole...
