I have been wanting to try some of the "new" shells on the market, but have always stayed with steel due to the cost. I can't justify paying the extra. What are some of your experiences with bismuth/tungsten/hevi-shot. In particular hevi-shot, I have heard good things about it. Thanks for the feed back.

Tungsten matrix is just like lead, only costs more. It is the real deal. Bismuth is just really expensive steel, IMHO. I have about 5 boxes of it left that I got last year as Christmas presents. When it is gone, I won't buy any more, for sure. Dunno about hevishot.

decided to bite the bullet and order 2 boxes of the kent tungsten and 2 boxes of the heavy-shot. Will not be here until next week, steel will have to do for opener. CAN'T WAIT, EVEN IF WE ONLY SEE ONE, IT'S STILL DUCK HUNTIN!!!!!!!

You can get good steel shells, like estate or Winchester Dry-lok, not the cheap x-pert for 48 and 56 cents per shells, respectively, if you buy byt the case. And that's 3 and halves.

i tried several of the new improved shells last year, but never felt comfortable with them because i didn't shoot enough of them to give them a chance. i kept going back to Super Dry-Locks... when you pay a 1.50 a shot, you are talking serious duck-huntin.

I bought 2 boxes of the hevi-shot,just out of curiosity. I'll let you know on Monday what I think of em. I do know it's painful patterning the stuff because it costs so much!!!

Try to run down some of the Federal Tungsten Iron/Steel duplex shells. They come in 2S/4T or 4S/4T. There are like a $1 per shell, where steel is .75. I bought two boxes last year and killed 18/20 with them, some on longer shots. You can get them through www.mackspw.com or www.herters.com
