Tons of coots on the ponds along Hwy 12 west of Belzoni. I'm really excited..the limit is 15 you know! Hehe, not many big ducks in my neck of the woods.

Wingman, I bet a bottle of John Boy and Billy's Grillin Sauce would even make a coot taste good.
I did hear a flock of snows last night at about 11:00 p.m. while my window was open and I was piddlin around on my puter.

Man I swear if the migration is on and it has to be,dem ducks that were heading this way to KY-right before they got here-turned west 200 miles then dropped in(cause they ain't here!)I hunted 5 hours yesterday without seeing one duck-went back this morning hunted another spot and still saw nothing. driving home decided to stop at one more place and found a couple of woodies, and a hand full of mallards. sucks real bad here! they would not come in to the decoys, but I will be there before daylight in the morning! we hunted this weekend close to Newport, Arkansas. sat morning was pretty good, overcast and windy. saw a whole passel of ducks and even more geese, but they were all in a hurry. we could only get a few to work the blind. we got a half dozen (would've been more if we could hit anything) sat morning and about 3 dozen blackbirds sunday. couldn't get a single duck in!! but the guys about a mile north of us on the river above the refuge never stopped shooting. also saw several packs of geese headed west......strange.

I have been to two different places that usually have ducks by this time of the year. I have yet to see a mallard. I did see some junk ducks. Not very many of them though. I hope this weather is going to help us, but they are not in Monroe county yet.
