Is it possible?

Postby gadwall2 » Mon Nov 19, 2001 6:37 am

This may initially go over like a turd in a punch bowl, but I am going to try anyway. I am doing a lot of scouting and sky watching nowadays. I can't watch the entire sky so I am wondering if we can't help each other out on bird sightings.

WAIT! I do not want to know where your duck hole is or what WMA you hunt. I am talking about regions or counties, thats all. Take my example: Chickasaw county- duck sightings have picked up just barely- gadwall and woodies.

This might help us know when the push is beginning or slowing. I am in agreement with Anatidae about not talking our public land on this board. That could be detremental to us.

Let me know what you think.

Saturday AM I saw three flights of Canada's and two flights of Snow's. Other than that didn't see anything else but a whole bunch of mosquito's. Plus on the other side of the river didn't hear much shooting, maybe this cool weather will get things stirring. baldduck

Thats what I am talking about guys. No specifics, but good general information. In front of the cold front I did see a few more ducks resting on some ponds and in some breaks that run near the highway on my way home from work. This is north Clay and south Chickasaw.

It would be nice if we did this every couple of days just to keep up with duck activity, what the are going to, nuimber of birds, and flight patterns.

What I saw this afternoon were probably new arrivals and were resting before trying to find a roost.

Thanks guys. If I can't see them myself, I want to here from someone who has seen them.

Can you tell I am bad wanting to go duck hunting.

not anything to get too excited about in the North East... my hole has been pretty much hit and miss on different occassions... the WMA north of me has been collecting a good number of ducks.... when they start popping caps at them, my hole should come alive about 8 am...

Men Its ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just got my call this afternoon. they said that at 8:00 am there were a few ducks in Stutgartt but by 3:00 pm they were filling every whole up. I guess they are ahead of the front. because all I heard this afternoon was snowgeese and I don't quite live in the delta.

I'll be heading out about 2 in the mornin. I be back to tell you guys about it around wed night or thur at lunch. It depends on if I can get away or not.

friend of mine called tonight and said while he was walking out from deer hunting it was dark, but he heard a flock of snow geese flying overhead. This was around Eupora.

Don't understand it guys, I have seen 10's of thousands of geese and thousands of ducks in the North delta this weekend and they are all in flight going west. No one else is seeing birds on this sight or your just saying your not but I was wondering why they are all west bound. Can't find more than a few hundred at a time on the fields up there. Last year this time we couldn't run them off.
Any of you bird experts know what's going on besides blaming the weather?

If any of you can remember last year around this time on opening day of the ms. deer gunseason, IT WAS SNOWING AND SLEETING!!!!!! I have only seen a few ducks around the south sharkey and issaquena and north warren counties, nothing to waste time over.

Duckmen I agree with you I have seen lots of ducks and geese moving west.

Maybe they got a suicide mission and their headed straight for Arkland.

there are very few ducks holding in the delta right now. I burn a tank of gas almost everyday looking and have yet to see more than 2-3 hundred anywhere.

I saw a flight of 50 snow geese in the parking lot of Home Depot in Southaven yesterday about 2:30PM. I thought that was simply amazing to see them in the city like that. They were appr. 600 yds. up headed south west.

Saw about 20 gaddies and a few pens. Seen 1 redhead or can. It got up to fast for a positive. Also seen a few blue bills.
