My backyard project completed - treehouse

Postby britlab » Mon May 17, 2010 9:41 am

I built the treehouse a couple of weeks ago, but added the swings and cleaned up the woods this weekend. My girls are 9 and 6 and love it. The hammock has been nice for the adults. All of the exterior and trim is poplar from my father in laws farm. The tree was a nice old poplar that I actually used to have a shooting house in. He had it milled and dried about a year ago. Anyway, here is the finished product.

That's nice. I'll likely do a play set for my daughter as we don't have any tree worthy of a playhouse like that.

I drew the plans. Its pretty simple though. 8x10x7 roughed out. 2 foot deck 8x8 interior. The hard part was trying to make it square with one of the posts being a tree. My girls insisted that it have a tree as part of the the house so I had to make it happen. We started it on a friday at lunch and finished on sunday.

That is way cool...
Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, count to ten, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you wouldn't look good in prison stripes... and just smile at that dumbass and walk away.

Would you consider renting it out for a weekend? Just joking, nice job.

Hey that's great.. I am looking to build one for my kids now. Could you give me an idea of the plans. I don't want to copy it but would like something similar. They have been on me about making one.
