2 year contract and 1 year warranty

Postby DeltaCotton12 » Mon May 17, 2010 10:29 am

my warranty was one year, its been 1 year and 15 days. Blackberry pearl toast. service keeps turning itself off. i turn it on, 10 seconds later it turns off. CSouth says its a hardware issue and they would happily let me pay ONLY 120 to break my contract then pay for a new 2 year contract plus price of phone... they have it made when it comes to this stuff..

Tried to contact RIM, thats like a damn goose chase. This type of stuff just kills me. I paid god money for this phone and its crashed in less than a year and 1 month..

i feel your pain DCB, i had my CS phn just over a year and it was falling apart, they let me out of my contract( for only $90  ) even though i didn't want outta the contract i just needed a new phone same number same plan. that was never an issue with AT&T, you just got u another phn and changed the sim card. just a good rip off

Are you talking about a signal or customer service. I've always had outstanding customer service with AT&T...........maybe b/c i've been with them for 15 years or so. There are areas where I don't have a signal at times but I know where they are and it's never really a problem.

I had the same issue with my phone shutting off and scrolling thru menus when I wasnt even pushing a button. So a week ago, today, I paid 90.00 to get out of current contract and 150.00 for the new phone. 250.00 gone in an instant and I'll likely have to do the same thing next year bc Im hard on phones. Even with insurance they want to give you a refurbished phone.

Same thing happend to my pearl on Alltel now Verizon. They, Verizon, told me that I had a 2 year contract and a 1 year warranty. Asked them why they do not offer a 2 year warranty if they sell a 2 year contract. My answer was that this was the norm for cell phone companies. Told them that I was paying for a service that they are suppose to be providing and that i will not be renewing my contract with them. The whole time that i was on the phone with customer service, they kept pushing a new phone and a new 2 year contract on me. Sorry, but verzion will not be hearing me now.

If you have insurance they should replace it. just go driving one evening and toss it out the window. then call the 1800 number for your service and report your phone lost.

If the phone is 11 months old (and obviously it is), you can upgrade with cell south and I believe the pearl flip is free right now.

the pearl is free because they dont make it any more. i believe BB saw these problems and has discontinued the phone.. they are giving them away now just to pay full price for your next phone (in about 13 months)... I paid full price for this one because my last phone was about 1.25years old and ended up at the bottom of a lake. bought this one last April and boom....

go in the store and raise sand , in front of customers , worked for me last week, get whatever you want within reason. i bought my wife a gift cert. for a hero and paid out of contract, they wanted her to still trade her old phone in, i felt like i paid for it when i bought out her contract, i won that battle with a little persistance.

I have a rescue blackberry bold in route. I will use it till she dont use any more. I'd like the Hero and i've asked around for some but i have been burned with buying new phones or expensive phones so i will give a free bold a shot..

I absolutely love my bold. I am hell on a cell phone and this one is pretty tough. No major malfunction as of yet.

Well, we'll be upgrading in September when we return from our trip. Right now I'm using my back-up phone (a POS LG, which stands for Lousy Garbage) because my 'good' one fell out of my pocket when I was feeding Jack one day. You know, he called my office several times with it, but hung up before anyone could talk with him. :P (I tried to blame it on her lap yapper, but the teeth marks were just too far apart. )
