Ok, I bought my small game license before dove season in Tupelo. Then, last week I bought my duck stamps in Ridgeland. I have heard about the H.I.P. stamp, I think I have filled out something in the past, and I see where it goes on the license, but I asked the guy in Ridgeland about it and he knew nothing of it. Do I need to get one, or what? Were we supposed to have one for Dove season? I sure want to be legal!

Yes a HIP registration is required for all Migratory bird hunters hunters in Mississippi.

Contact the MDWF for a registration card. I believe that Post Offices also carry them but I would call first because they may only have enough to cover their Fed stamp sales.

Any license agent should have them. They are free of charge. They are required to hunt any migratory bird.

The Sportsman License will have "MB" (migratory bird) after the license number, once you receive it in the mail. This means you're HIP.

Booger,
I filled out my HIP registration at the same time I purchased my sportsman, but my license number doesn't have the -MB on it. That little credit card isn't big enough to hold all those stamps! the HIP stamp had to go on the front, covering up the deer picture.

On the subject of stamps and sportsman lics, will the state stamp ever come as a self adhesive like the Fed? I've never been able to get the state stamp to stick to the back of my sportsman lic. I have to keep everything in a protective pouch so that I don't lose the state stamp.

The HIP stamp is in addition to the state and federal stamp, but it is free of charge.
