I am sure it works in MS very simmilar to how it works here in LA with the wlidlife commission. You need to first get people together to protest it. However to be succesful you need to have a lot more at your side. I would get a petition going ASAP and get as many names on it as you can (make sure they are MS residents) and bring that with you.

THe BIGGEST thing you need to fight this is political help. Again I am not sure if it works the same but over here the commission is a politically appointed position. Any changes made in the regs normally have political backing. You need to find out who appointed each memeber and see if you have anyone that has contact with that specific politician. Once you get that done you need to have the politician contact the commision and then you MIGHT get something changed.

I have fought turkey regs over here in Louisiana since Katrina and have a LOT of experience with the wildlife commission. Good luck and let me know if you need any help. You can get them to change their mind, but it's gonna take a lot of work and a lot of time.

Lodi, you got till next Thursday to get something going! You must have at least 10 people and it must be in writing within 20 days of the order. The order was issued on the 9th. Good luck!

Thanks Jeff, we are already at work with the political spectrum. We do need some additional help. Sure were hoping the people in charge would come up with something less restrictive at least on a trial basis. It was much easier on thier part to just go this route though, despite the opinions and letters they recieved. I have been hunting these two places since I started duck hunting, it is a shame that in a couple of years when my son is old enough to go with me, we cant wake up on a sat morning and go. PATHETIC!

The rest of them are on the list boys!!!!!!!! Dont believe it stay on the sidelines.

If this passes. I predict Malmaison Greentree and Tallahatchie NWR will be next. I hate the fact that generations of hunters that have hunted the area for many many years may not be able to set foot on it during duck season.

First it was closing hunting at noon instead of 4pm as Avery Wood always insisted on.
Second it was a 5am launch that created most of the problems.
Third we may be headed to a draw where at best you might get chosen once during the season to hunt there.

I'll bet the late Avery Wood is rolling over in his grave about now. The MDWFP have stripped away everything Mr. Wood stood for....the priviledge of the public to utilize our state lands that he fought so had to obtain.

CBrown, for the whole season or just the first couple of weeks? I can deal with a limited draw the first couple of weeks, and open after that, but a complete draw is awful (and I don't even hunt that part of the state, but if they start there it will come everywhere else soon).

I just pray that you don't face a commision that's mind is already made up as I have faced this before and it will really tick you off if this is the case (If so this is where you will need the political pull)

I went back and read the NOI and it is only for the first two weeks. Actually that is not too bad except that if you dont get drawn by the time you get in their all those henned up Toms from the first two weeks will be well educated.

But with everything that's been going on there in the last few years and all the biotching and complaining what did you expect? As with most draws yall (hunters) brought this on yourself! I would strongly suggest folks write the letters, call the folks making decisions and doing something constructive.

Keep a level, calm head and be polite and courteous to those in letters and calling.


Whenever the meeting is established, post up a date, time, and place and load up the trucks and GO!

There is one thing for sure the public hunting areas in this part of the state that a person can hunt on a whim are declining. You dont care, sit there and bash me, wont help the situation if you dont want to see it happen do something constructive. Any ideas? I quite honestly have never had to oppose the Dept so the best way to do that is still in the works. Any suggestions?

Chevy, I consider you as someone who I dont always disagree with...we've hung out, went to the long branch...and almost brought a dance instructor back to WB....she wanted to go, but her boyfrined wouldn't let her . But I want to flip the coin. On this here dump, arent you always taking up for LOE's when someone hints at the slightest negative comment? Are you taking up them because it is a cause you believe in, or becasue you are an LEO? What difference does it make if he hunts there or not...if its something he believes is wrong, let the man speak. The truth hurts my man, IF you can read and comprehend I said I would be glad to sign a petition, call, etc. I was trying to make a suggestion to your dense ass but apparently it fell on deaf ears. Surprise surprise. I am not bashing you, because like you said, I don't know you I just think you like to type stuff without thinking it out. I do know how this political stuff happens though and quick responses are not the best deal for rebuttals since usually they are not thought out.

You are the one that doesn't get it, you cannot get things done by ranting and raving. You have to be organized, methodical, and CALM. I am actually trying to help you believe it or not. If you don't want help from people, go ahead do it yourself, I hope you get drawn to hunt! You have to put your "pride" to the side and think outside the box on it.



My suggestions

Be calm in your postings.

Be respectful in your letters, let an unbiased person read them before you send it in.

Call ALL the people who will vote on the issue.

SHOW UP TO THE MEETING

BE RESPECTFUL at the said meeting

Gather some sort of empirical data on the negative impacts of the draw at Mathews Brake

Get the media involved



It can be done, this is something that was just done as an organized group of sportsman. Calling, writing emails, and being responsible in the opposition. I am not just blowing smoke, I was trying to help but you apparently don't want help so this I'll try not to post anymore on "your" posts.
