ANY INTEREST IN A DECOY CARVING 'CLASS'? update 7/12
I've been kicking this around for quite some time, trying to figure out the best way to both approach folks and pull it off. I guess the first thing to do is gauge interests and go from there.
If I could get someone knowledgeable on the subject of carving decoys to put it on, would you be interested?
I'm thinking
-a weekend class (give or take) in the JACKSON, MS area
-costs is uncertain at the present, but it would include supplies and an end of class BBQ/cooking/decoy floating
-level of class would be for anyone, but geared toward the "I think I'd like to do this crowd" - i.e. the rank amateur/new carver
+++other areas of personal interests I'd like to see discussed are things such as pattern/style development, waterfowl anatomy, color theory, etc etc+++
*as stated, these are just ideas floating in my head as of now*
I can order pre-cut blanks (head and body) ready to carve, eyes, and all supplies in such a manner that the attendee owns them at the end, and have the group leader/teacher take a square block and show us how it's done. The idea is to keep time on the bandsaw down, but still learn the fundamentals.
***area of carving interests would be geared toward creating appealing TRADITIONAL GUNNING BLOCKS***
I'm just checking if there's any interests now, if there is, I'll get w/ who I need to and see how hard it would be to get them to do it.
WHO KNOWS, there are many decoy carving clubs across the country, this may just kick off one in this area?
Let me know what you think of this initial idea, Justin

Yes Yes and Heck Yes! I've been wanting to try my hand at it for some time now and dont know how to get off the ground doing it.
Re: ANY INTEREST IN A DECOY CARVING 'CLASS'?
pencil me in for a hell yea.
started thinking i wanted to try this several years ago, but as far as i got was buying a book. the desire slowly dwindled after a few years, but it's still something i'd like to try just to see if i'd like.

I'm in for sure, also I have three arrogant Bas-tards and three founders here for ya.
