good question doc... this law goes back to the market huntung days when almost all sink box's had a punt gun attached and overkills were tremendous.... just float up to a raft of ducks and lite the fuse......BOOOOM. more like a cannon with lead shot.....
maybe the pits advertised was to lift the blind in case of a flood or something... i thought they had to be permanent in the ground.... but i have never owned one.....

Sink boxes are legal in Canada. The server won't let me post a pdf photo but if anyone wants to see what they look like, send me your email address.

The following site is in French, but it shows photos of the sink box (the same ones as on my pdf file)

A. That picture is of a layout boat. Not a sinkbox.
B. this is a sinkbox on the left. Little to nothing above the water level.

C. THIS POST IS FROM 2003!!!

damn this thread is from 03. Teul, you're wrong that is a sinkbox, and yes they are legal in certain provinces. curtain blinds are legal in NC. Take a closer look at that photo, they are standing up in that box.

I was on the wall as to weather they were sitting or standing.
But there is more above water profile than you see in the pictures of old. So, It looked more like a layout boat to me.

I think they're generally defined by the amount of freeboard, but could be wrong.
