Smoke on the water

Postby Micah » Mon Mar 01, 2004 10:00 pm

I finally got a pic of my boat running, and thought I'd share my newest addiction with you guys. Man it's an adrenaline rush doing 80+ on the water. I know, you can't catch fish at 80 mph, but it sure makes the boat ride fun.

Man, doin' 80+ on the water is haulin' booty! Fastest I've ever been is 72 and it scared the hell out of me. Nothing but the prop in the water. What size motor you got on that thing. You runnin' a HotFoot? I hope so going that fast!!

I'm running a 250XB Mercury, and my best speed to date is 86.4mph.

I wouldn't think of driving a high performance rig without a hot-foot. I also don't get on plane without the kill switch hooked up and the life jacket fully buckled.

This boat drives better at 85+ than my old boat did at 70mph. You have to respect the power of the boat, and you have to be aware of your surroundings.

Just make sure there ain't no "fire in the sky" to go along with that "smoke on the water!"

Dang foolishness...I go fishing to relax. And, I don't care what you say, there ain't nothing relaxing about 80 mph in a boat!

If you need to go that fast, then, wherever you are going, you should have been there yesterday!

I'm with Micah.
I road in a 03 Bullet with a Merc 250 something, last year in a tournament! It was exciting. Passing boats at 80+ going down river!

What is a "hot foot?"

it looks like the gas petal on your truck, and operates the same way
Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, count to ten, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you wouldn't look good in prison stripes... and just smile at that dumbass and walk away.

The picture was taken this past weekend on Smith Lake near Cullman, AL.

It's a beautiful lake for sure. I couldn't have asked for better weather to be out on the water.

almost like glass. Bigwater was in a smoker like that one time and came out of it doing about 65mph. Said it scared him so bad his bowels were puckered for a week.
