this is on my very short list, and the wife said she'll go to. looks like the predominant bird is greenwings? How were the numbers of treeducks (pachugas? don't they call them something like that) and cinnamons. You can PM me if you want. 20 ducks a day, that has to be close to the south american numbers huh?

It depends on where you are hunting down there as to what your predominant duck is. Since Greenwings get into bigger flocks, they are often the main bird bagged as there are shooters and there are hunters. Cinnamons travel in smaller bunches and unless you target them, you'll have more of other things. Cinnamons seemed to be in good numbers down there this year as did some of the better marked Blue-wings in some time. Some water holds mostly divers and some have a lot of Whistling Ducks mixed with Teal. We hunt brackish water, fresh water and saltwater esturaries at times down there and sometimes see many species and sometimes don't depending on where we are. I've killed as many as 12 species in one shoot in the past. The Black-Bellied Whistling Duck is rather common, but Fulvous are sometimes vagrants and sometimes accessable. My oldest son and I shot 15 Fulvous in one morning several years ago. so you never know. Like anywhere else, things vary from year to year as water conditions change. When a hunter is looking for one particular bird the hunt-master ususally knows where to find it.

I'm having some computer problems and will have to get that straightened out before I can post up some pictures.

thanks pat, we have fulvous on the leases I hunt in SW LA, so i don't really need those. I would like a chance at a blackbelly. Actually the leases in SW LA have all the blackbellies you want, problem is they fly before and after shooting light except during teal seson.

You never know what you will see and/or collect down there. I've killed 2 Bluewing/Cinnamon Hybrids and saw one Shoveler/Bluewing killed and another that was not shot. I have also killed a Gadwall/Shoveler hybrid there. Interesting area with a plethora of birdlife.

Billcollector, this year it was a 4 day five night trip for most of us and was $2870 per couple.

That was 5 nights lodging, breakfast for the hunters, 4 morning hunts, licenses, use of new Benelli SuperSport guns and all hunting transportation, ocean front rooms with all the seabreezes you can stand. Food is cheap down there with lots of good seafood. My wife and my bartabs, lunches at poolside, her breakfasts, happy hour (Ramsey's favorite time), etc. at the hotel was less than $150 for the 4 full days. It's a trip where the wife can't possibly go away unhappy or I wouldn't have been able to go back for the last 10 years.

Plastic will work!

I've got some good pictures to post when I can get my other computer going. The airboat was one of the strongest I've ever been in with a 505 c.i. Chevy engine that sounded like a muscle car from the 60's and hauled 12 of us at speeds that we could have pulled a skier behind us. Was quite impressive to say the least, especially to the several that had never been in one.

That's not bad at all. Did any of the wives hunt or did they just lounge around the beach? Looks like there was alot to do after the hunt.

None of the wives hunted. They just did the whole beach and relax thing. One wife locked herself in a room and read 3 books and cam out to eat. Said she'd not been so relaxed in years.

Between MSDucks, our web site and the NWTF, interest in this Mazatlan Mexico duck hunting experience has been incredible. Hardly anyone wants to go while the US seasons are open, and remember - February is the shortest month of the year. Space is limited. Don't wait until mid-summer or next year to reserve your dates. Teal start arriving in October and continue to build all season. Will be some of the resident Whistling Ducks also but not ducks in the numbers like Dec.-Feb.

finally got my computer back up and running.

For the ladies a view off our balcony overlooking the pool and Pacific. If this doesn't sell your better half, nothing will.

This airboat was some kinda powerful. It's running in 2 inches of water and 3 feet of mud in a mangrove lagoon.

Trophies on the sorting board.

Teal slam. Second Time I've shot all three species out of one flock.

RR slightly out of focus, but after 12 Margaritas, who wouldn't be!!

Yep, that's the boat I thought it was! Same folks built our airboat that built that one and the owner and his son hunt down there every year. He was telling me how nice it was when we talked about it last year!
