My brother somehow grabbed a 12 gauge shell that got mixed up in all our 10 gauge shells and shot it through his SP-10. Not a pretty site, and let's just say it was out of commission for the rest of the season.

Would your brother by chance be from Mississippi also?

I've had a gold hunter 3.5" for about 6 years, killed a many of ducks with it, but I had to retire it mid season this year. The gun always worked properly when it was clean on a warmer day! I'm not speaking for all gold's, but mine has let me down time and time again when it is cold, and when I say cold I mean 32 degrees and colder. As stated before the action would become slower and it would eventually start jamming up. I've had a few minor issues like the magazine stopper getting hung and a few others over the years. I stepped up to an Old SBE1 and haven't looked back! The Gold is on back-up duty.

If you will follow the link I posted earlier in this thread, Your slow action problems might go away. If they do not you may need a new action spring. They are about 15 bucks.

Yea, I take mine completely down like that twice a year and cleaned it. I thought several times about getting a sure cycle and put in it to solve that problem, but didn't want to put 150 bucks in a gun that I paid 1100 for! Oh well, it is what it is, and i'm satisfied with what I have now. Any of the automatics will jam under the right conditions I don't care which one it is.

Another option is a Winchester SX, they are the same gun. The parts for a Gold are interchangable with SX3;s I believe.

What in the world is a person from Georgia doing on a MS website, anyway?
Damn, i thought I had that one

Is that buddy of yours tryin to blow that call or make love to it?

Pretty sure the state loony bin for Georgia is in MIlledgeville. Looks like they're letting patients get full internet access in there...

Try to usr powder graphite in the action instead of oil. The oil will freeze if it gets too cold of some water gets in it. I use graphite bc back home it gets really cold during the season and aslways had the prob of my sx2 freezing.
