peewee,
Get the book. It has several training programs in it. Race 1, Race 2, Century, etc. The book is a quick read but it will help you understand what your doing. There are points during the training where you may abandon or cut intervals short due to fatigue. How to do the Trainright fit test etc. Nice part for me was I can go and hang with the tuesday hammerfest while training 6 to 8 hours a week. For someone who does tris you could use this as cycle traininig and still have time for other sports. The thought being to replace volume with intensity and I mean intensity.
You can do the workouts on a trainer or on the road. I find the Fit test is best done on a trainer.
