Foundation repair methods and contractors-I need advice !

For those in the know, are certain methods of shoring up a sinking foundation better than others? Also... if you know of any good contractors, I would appreciate names.

What are are you in? If you're around Memphis, I know of a great Geotechnical Engineer that I used to use all the time that is pretty sharp in this area.
