Spread
I was wondering, what all kinds of dekes and what formations you normally use in yalls spread. We have a variety of dekes we put out and normally put them out into a U shape. I would like to know what works for yall the best. Just trying to throw something a lil different out there.

Re: Spread
We've used the tradational U, as well as an S pattern, and really like the X. Normally we'll use all 3, with the u being the landing spot in the middle... S U X. I try to roll the stubble in a big D and U pattern, leaving plenty of room for the S U X patterns for the deeks. Seems to work well for us. travis
Re: Spread
I for one never have gotten on the band wagon with the spread shapes. maybe it's because I only hunt timber, but we put usually put out around a dozen mallards, the greenheads where the sun will be and the hens fill in the gaps. as far as the shape, whatever shape they make when they land is the one I use.

Re: Spread
I never put them in any particular "pattern". I just try to place them to look as natural as possible.

Re: Spread
I only use 12-18 decoys on most days as i do a good bit of walking. I keep a pretty good mix in my bag: 7 mallards (3H/4D), 3 Wigeon (1/2), 4 Pintails (2/2), and 4 Gadwalls (2/2). Hunting in TN and MS i always had a MOJO, but this year in CA i didnt use one and killed as many ducks as i have the past 4-5 years. I usually either pitch mine out in small groups with an opening in the middle or use a J-Hook pattern.
