Property Pictures

Postby Kealhofer » Mon Jan 25, 2010 8:07 pm

Is there anyone that takes pictures from an airplane of your property with infrared camera. I was thinking how cool it would be if you could get someone to fly over your property at night and take pics with a camera that would pic up body heat and be able to tell where the deer are?

You need yourself an RQ-7B Shadow UAS. IR/EO, 4 hours flight time. Find all the deer you want, target locate and store up too 1000 locations. Awsome. Soon to be armed so then you can take em' out with "laser" guided rockets. Again....awsome.

VERY, and I repeat ...VERY expensive. I don't think killing a deer, even a world record deer, would be worth that kind of money to me. You're talking about very specialized imaging equipment plus the cost of the airplane. There is a guy in Vicksburg who does some aerial mapping work, but I don't remember his name offhand. If you want, PM me in the morning and I can find it in my office. At least he may be able to point you in the right direction if you're really interested.

I am not talking about hunting them at night. I am saying on 3,500 acres it would be nice to know the general location of where they are hanging out at night.

you can rent IR camera bodies from lensrentals.com. You just need to find a plane to hijack. :?

Hooker's Ridge, nuff said Bubba now get out and hunt. Also deer hitting the corn field on the other end of property, look for trails leading to it.

Arkansas game and fish did this on Choctaw Island WMA when they bought it back in 2003 or so to see how bad overpopulated it was. Ive read the study from the aerial imaging somewhere.
