Mine was taken from my yard Friday night. 2008 Honda Rincon on a trailer. I guess I made it too easy for them to pass up. Seems to me law enforcement would do something about this like putting tracking devices in 4 wheelers or some type of surveillance. This is my 2nd bike that has been stolen in 4 years, and it's pretty old now.

There fixed that for ya. Just messin with ya cause that does suck. I sell security systems, picture of one as my avatar. 4 wheeler and lawn mower theft has gotten out of controll. Bad thing is people buying these 4 wheelers have to know they are buying stolen property. When something is to good to be true it probably is.

+1

Put it in the backyard, in a shed/shop,or put motion lights under the carport and park it under there. It is not Law Enforcement's job to protect your fourwheeler/boat/lawnmowers/etc. They do make Lojack for vehicles though, surely one could be put on a fourwheeler but more than likely it would still not be recovered. I hate a thief just like the rest of em but a little personal responsibility goes a long way! Sorry for the rant! Hope they recover your bike!

Well, the first bike was chained to a tree about 20 feet from my house, with key taken out of it. Cut chain, pushed bike 80 yards up steep incline and onto a trailer. Second one was still on trailer, key out of it, and trailer had one of those straight locks on it. Don't know how they managed around that one. After pushing the trailer down the hill, I guess they could have cut it off, but I couldn't find it. Both times they were parked up under courtesy lights of outside lights on my house. Sorry if I mislead you aceinthehole, but I did have some type of theft deterrent.

chevy01234, I never said it was law enforcement's responsibility to prevent theft of my stuff. But after it gets stolen, (an $8,000 bike) it is grand theft auto, and it does become their responsibility. I simply stated that since this seems to be an ongoing problem for the past several years across MS, maybe somebody (more than likely law enforcement) could do some kind of sting operation and catch these people with a bait bike. Sheesh, a man gets a 4 wheeler stolen and warns other people and all of a sudden smarta$$es come out from everywhere...like it's my fault some jacka$$ stole my 4 wheeler.

I guess I misunderstood your original post, and I am now a smart ass? You said law enforcement should put tracking devices in fourwheelers or some type of surveillance? I thought you were talking about a Lo Jack type deal. If you had said a sting operation, I would have whole heartedly agreed but unfortunately I am not a mind reader and your post was clear as mud at best. Sorry my post offended you, no need for the name calling though.

north central ms.

Not name calling, but your post stating that it is my responsibility to prevent theft to my stuff was stating the obvious at best. If law enforcement puts a tracking device in a 4 wheeler or puts close surveillance on one, wouldn't that be considered a "sting operation" without having to actually say it. We're splitting hairs here, and it doesn't matter who said what. I'm the one that got kicked in the balls...twice now.

I guess I'll just build a mini jail for my new one when I get it.

Move? Uh, you serious clark?

IF is the linking word that you left out that makes these two synonymous....as they stand now, these two statements can be interpreted completely different. in the first, i thought you were saying that ALL bikes should have tracking devices and that an atv/utv surveillance program should be enacted by legislature for law enforcement to carry out. i didn't get the "sting operation" inferrence.

So you take "some type of surveillance" and immediately think surveillance program enacted by legislature? Dang dude...reading too much into this thing.

I'm done. I went on a rant about my 4 wheeler being stolen and I was pissed off and the only thing I get in return is people picking apart every individual word I wrote, all the way down to the word "if"...RIDICULOUS.
