Duck hunt in the Monroe or Shreveport, La. Area...

Postby nufther » Thu Jan 07, 2010 10:58 pm

I am looking for a guided duck hunt in the Monroe or Shreveport, La area. Or anywhere that is close to or within an hour of Shreveport. Any suggestions?

call Phil Robertson and ask if you can go with his crew...
Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, count to ten, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you wouldn't look good in prison stripes... and just smile at that dumbass and walk away.

I have been wanting to get into a duck lease in that area for several years. I do not know of any guides over that way, but you might can call Simmons Sporting Goods in Bastrop, only a 15 minute drive north of Monroe, and ask them if they know of any guides in the area.

i think they are closed or closing soon. when the paper mill went out of business, everybody left town for work. haven't been up there since last duck season but that is what they told me last i was up there.

You will want to stay closer to Monroe rather than Shreveport. Any where along Highway 15 is as good as you'll find in the area. I hunt just north of there and will see if I can dig up some names.

Simmons will know some guides, especially in more NE LA up around Arkansas

There was a guy named Gordon Markle that guides around Monroe and then there is that Johnny Wink guy up closer to Mer Rouge or Jones. Just google those names.

The paper mill has all but closed up, but Simmons is still open and going strong.
