Re: New CCW question
I bought my wife a S&W AirWeight .38 for Christmas. I really like this pistol and may have to go back and get one for myself. It is compact and lightweight.

Mine goes everywhere I go. In the pants pocket, small of the back, you will forget its there.

I would stay away from the PPS, I am a huge walther fan but there has been a lot of reliability issues with them. The new ones have less problems but there are still a few bugs in them.
x3 on the S&W airweigh .38 if your going for a revolver, a small 1911 would fit you well too.

Re: New CCW question
Well I'm a FFL dealer I've had a lot of people ask me about the Karhs 9mm and 40cal. But personally I carry glock 32 and as a back up I carry the Ruger LCR and I love it. It stay on my ankle and it so light weight I hardly know its there...Now with the +P ammo its gotta little kick to it but its managble...I also carry a sig p226 which is also nice. But with you being in college and trying to watch the funds you cant go wrong with the LCR or either of the kel-tec (which I also have) the 9mm-P-11 or the P-3at in 380 all are good pistols for the money...
