How many inshore fisherman (reds and specks) on here

Postby @work » Tue Dec 22, 2009 4:43 pm

Just read Lodi Quaker's post about the trailer tag which eventually ended up talking about fishing.

How many of you on here make regular trips to south LA to fish for redfish and specks? I know Jeff in LA is a regular in Venice as he had given me some pointers for my trip down there in October.

My nephew and I made our first trip to Delacroix this past Saturday and were faced with 120 knot winds from the north. Even a 1 acre pond had white caps. Reminded me of our trip to Venice in October but without the high, muddy water.

I bought a bay boat in August and have only made 2 trips to south LA so far...both were probably at the worst times possible in regards to wind and water conditions.

Slow day at work...have surfed the internet from A to Z twice today. Come back to work tomorrow and do it again.

My brother had a bay boat last year; he and I went out of Venice. Reds are fun to catch, bass aint got shat on 'em. The specks are good eatin'.

Grand Isle, Vermilion Bay and Rockefeller here. Every once in a while Venice with Jeff when I can get out there. Might hit up LODI this summer for a Golden Meadow trip. Rockefeller is by far my favorite as I can go out there in a 14' flat and burn less than a couple gallons of fuel and catch trout, redfish, flounder, shrimp, crabs and hand pick oysters. I've made a couple trips there where I thrown an 8' cast net twice and caught my 25 lbs of shrimp during the fall shrimp season.

I fished the IFA back when it first started in Grand Isle and qualified to go to FL with one 27" redfish that weighed 9 lbs. End up not going to FL, but was pretty cool getting a letter in the mail which was the invitation.
