Has anyone

Postby mfox1616 » Sat Dec 19, 2009 3:37 pm

ever had this bad of a start to a season. I can't believe the lack on numbers in areas that no matter what normally have ducks all over them this time of the year. Maybe the big snow norht of us will send some on down?

Never this slow. We always have ducks especially by this time of the year and it has been slooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwww. Almost got our limit of mallards 1 time this year, haven't been able to hunt that much so I know it isn't pressure. Just to much water and food spread around with all the rain and abundance of harvestable crops this year not only in Mississippi but up the flyway. Just hope they finally make it down in some type numbers, probably the last week of January. THe youth hunt will be slam packed I bet you........

NO!!!!!!!! In my life I have never had a season this bad! Or talked to so many people having a bad season. There are ducks in mississippi but they are very concentrated, you either have them or you dont. There is no in between.

Shoot, hunt on the Coast for a decade or so. Then you can appreciate even the slowest season anyplace else!

Another odd thing is the "traditional" spots are off yet a new spot or "traditional" mediocre spot may have some ducks. Where the heck is the imprinting we have counted on for years? Sitting here hoping Northeast Ark and Southern MO have a white Christmas!

Better be wishing north of here have a white christmas or you'll still be in the same boat. I dont know where they are but they haven't made it this far south yet. A solid freeze line above St. Louis for three days and saw no increase in what few ducks are around here. Its just spotty like other places.

Its the same way the past month or so in NE Ar. I'm in a lease just outside of cash and we have had some decent hunts but the birds are mainly concentrated in a few select areas. Not like it has been in the past. Hopefully, it will pick up for everyone soon.

I have had slow starts and some with great openers but then sucked till January. This year is one of those years that thus far has been a bust. Second week of January I think will be when we finally see big numbers of Mallards in the Delta and NE Ark. Its a bad year for migration I think, I mean we hunted Thanksgiving Morning in NE Ark around Earle and killed a limit of BW Teal. Thats just not right BW's that far north st the end of Nov.
Damn, i thought I had that one

Is that buddy of yours tryin to blow that call or make love to it?

This has been the worst season so far that I've ever had. Hoping for some changes in the weather pattern that will move some ducks down.

so far its been a really bad year for the wood ducks :D , cuz thats all i have seen in any numbers, i not been in any numbers of big ducks all season. all i know to do is roll with it, an smack them early morning woodies and be gratful i can get those till the big ducks decide to come down and play.

The worst season I have ever had. We have killed a few ducks in NE AR but on our lease in MS we have not fired a single shot and we killed about 650 on this field last year.
