Well my old lab decided to play with a skunk last night and to say the least the skunk did not want to play with her. You got it she got a full load sprayed on her, so I need some ideas of what to bath her with to get that smell off.
Nothing and I mean NOTHING smells like very fresh skunk spray, my God I thought I was going to die, my eyes started watering and I almost lost all of my supper.

I've heard bathing the dog in tomato sauce works.

From experience, tomato juice doesn't really work. I haven't tried this one but they say it works:

The following solution has worked for many people and is a favorite among home remedies: mix 1 qt. of 3% hydrogen peroxide, ¼ to ½ cups baking soda and 1 – 2 tsp. dish soap.
The caution I would add is that the Hydrogen peroxide can act as a bleaching agent on the coat. If you are concerned by this substitute vinegar for the hydrogen peroxide.

I am going to try the Peroxide Mixture, anything has got to be better than that smell.
Thanks,
Robert
P.S. Jason why don't you come on down and give Jazz that hug BEFORE I wash her???

+1
Here's what we use:
Ingredient List
• Scope Mouthwash – 2 large bottles (1 L)
• Lemon Juice – 1 large bottle (500ml or larger)
• H2O2 – (Hydrogen Peroxide – ½ gal or more)
• Baking Soda – 2 regular boxes
• Dishwashing liquid – 1 large bottle (500ml)
Procedure
1. The dog should be soaked and scrubbed thoroughly with the Scope and allowed to soak for at least 15 minutes.
2. While soaking, combine 1 cup of lemon juice, 250ml (1pint) of H2O2, and ¼ cup of Dishwashing liquid in a bucket. (Do Not Add Baking Soda Yet)
3. When ready rinse with water to remove Scope.
4. Immediately after rinsing the dog, while the dog is wet, add water to your mixture in the bucket until is approximately half full.
5. Next, add approximately ½ a box of Baking soda to the bucket – it will produce a lot of suds.
6. Pour your mixture onto the dog, using the suds to scrub and work solution into the dog’s skin.
7. Scrub, scrub, scrub, scrub, scrub, scrub, scrub, scrub, scrub, and scrub some more. (this scrubbing process should take at least 7-8 minutes.)
8. Rinse thoroughly.
9. Next soak again with the scope for 10-15 min.
10. This entire process usually must be repeated at least once…So repeat steps 1-10 as necessary.
This is the best de-skunking method I've used...works pretty good; the key is to scrub the dog really good with the soap mixture, the scope really helps cut the stank too. Good luck and have fun!

Re: Help, advice, something.......
I have a Doberman that does not like small furry critters in my yard so needless to say, when he saw the one with the big bushy tail he just knew it would be fun. After dispatching the skunk and vomitting a little from the noxious chemical death/burning smell, I went to wal-mart and got the stuff for the "solution". The dog got washed three times, twice in the solution, once in regular shampoo and he slept inside that night. The key was letting it soak in pretty good them spraying it off and repeating. I now keep all that stuff at the house! I used this:

Update on Jazz and the Skunk:
Well after deciding to go with the Hydrogen Peroxide Mixture and already having a gallon of Tomato Juice I thought it best to use both of them, you know since I had it might as well use it.
1st: I poured the Juice on her and rubbed it in a little at a time until I had used the whole gallon bottle, I kind of figured she would like, but I figured wrong. I let it set on her for 10-15 minutes. I then rinsed her off.
2nd: I mixed up the Mixture and applied it slowly and evenly and scrubbed her for another 10-15 minutes. I personally thought the first recipe was a little small and with Jazz being 65lbs I just doubled everything and it worked fine.
In my honest opinion I can't say which one worked the best or if they both did equal parts, but I will say I give the two together a 95-98% success rate. When I got finished and got her dried completely off you could not smell her at all, maybe just a hint of an odor and I mean just a hint, that is why I can't give it a 100% and by saturday the hint was even gone.
Thanks for the advice and the links, I just hope I never have to use it again.
