Shotgun not shooting straight

Postby Brandon Flyway » Thu Dec 17, 2009 4:13 pm

Anybody had a problem with your shotgun not shooting straight?

I've got a Beretta that I patterned for the first time and found out that it is shooting a foot left of center at 30yds. Conveniently for Beretta the 3 year warranty is now up. I've had the gun for 3 years and a couple of months. So they will charge me for the evaluation, any repairs and the shipping of the gun to Maryland for them to fix it. :x

That'll be the last time I don't pattern a shotgun the day after I buy it.

Does anybody know of someone that can fix it locally? I live in Brandon, MS.

At least I've got an excuse for all those ducks that just laughed at me when I shot 3 times at them.

I'd appreciate any help.

Got your self a bent barrel.
I've blamed many a miss on that same problem.

But seriously, I dont have any idea what you can do other than adjust your aim to account for the deviation.

I have one too. Found it out last year after I missed a turkey at 15 yds 3 times.....Google "beretta shooting low and left". We aren't the only ones. I changed out the spacer things and it got a lot better. Not dead on, but better.

Stick the barrell in the fork of a tree and bend it to the right until it shoots straight. Po Monkey has a mossberg that the barrell looks like a banana.

Had a friend that the same thing happened to...except he missed a turkey and checked it right then. If yo have those shims that come with it, I might would attempt to correct it with those.

it could also be your stock. Make sure the stock is inline with the receiver. I fell and bent mine...didn't hit squat that morning until I noticed there was a gap larger on one side than the other.

I have a friend who had a Benelli M-2 that did the same thing. He sent it back to Benelli and they confirimed it and sent him a new barrel.

Assuming your gun has an adjustable stock? You need to put the shim with #65 in the gun. Read the directions to make sure you do it correctly.

You might laugh but my son shoots a 10ga. Browning BPS that he got from a Ms. River running outlaw who shot the thing for 10 years. It was bent from the factory and he straightened it in a vise.

No telling how may ducks that thing has outlawed.

None of my shotguns pattern dead red straight, hence, the need to pattern your guns. I would imagine the way each gun shoulders is a little different. I take my patterns into consideration while judging leads

Dux, I think your barrel is bent on your duck gun, but you can sure outshoot me any day of the week with it.

The relief space for the choke tube is probably bored "off center." Contact Briley about an eliptical choke.

I have a Berretta with a slightly bent barrell and took it to the gun shop and they couldn't fix or find another barrell.

I noticed the exact same thing when patterning m xtrema II with Nitro loads for turkey season. I changed spacers and shims and problem solved. Google will likely fix you up.
