question for wingman

wingman what evidence do you have to have to issue a ticket or arrest poachers that are caught in the act?

well i ain't no wingman, but all the ones that i ever caught on my property, my uncles or my dads property, all i had to do was call the GW and tell him i had them and what i caught them doing, i don't think i ever had to sign an affidavit or anything, but i had the poacher, and the deer he shot, zip tied together laid across the back of my fourwheeler, i don't think they would encourage that approach, but you probably need a tag number, and photos if you catch them, but most GWs will be there ASAP if you catch the folks and can make them stay.

Yeah this should be funny. Can you imagine the laugh the GW got?

Landowner or leaseholder can sign an affidavit for trespassing if they catch someone and they also have to sign one if the law catches someone on their land. My judges won't even prosecute someone I catch trespassing if landowner doesn't sign affidavit. So if you catch someone you can go to courthouse and file charges yourself. No officer required.

haha, yeah i zip tied him to the deer.

the first guy i ever caught i had actually started hunting him after he killed the buck i was after. i had seen a few trees that had been climbed( differant marks from anyones stands that hunted our places) then one afternoon, i noticed a fairly fresh blood trail while walking in, i follwed it till just before dark when i found the buck i had chased all bow season(he had been gut shot), the next day i back tracked the trail too where he was shot found the tree the guy climbed, it was 300 yrds from the property line. i was determinded to catch this SOB if it took all season. it was the week after christmas, i had been sitting on a ridge for a few hrs listening for anything that sounded like a human in our woods, when all of a sudden about 500 yrds away i heard two shots, i took off after the sound, when i got fairly close, i started glassing, took me about five min, i spotted the guy about 20 ft up a poplar was this guy looking around. i eased over the back side of the ridge and slipped around behind the guy. i got within 50 yrds unnoticed still not believing the guy had not gotten down yet (guess he was getting greedy). i hollared at him and told him to lower his rifle, jacket and coveralls to the ground. his rifle started swinging wildly as he was trying to figure out where i was, i told him that if he fired a shot, i was gonna put one through his skull, at that point he took his jacket, and coveralls off and dropped them to the ground the jacket had a 9mm berretta. he then lowered his rifle. once his rifle was on the ground, i broke from cover and cut the rope and unloaded his rifle. once he was on the ground i tossed him the zip tiesand told him to put them on his hands, i made him go get his deer and made him drag (at gun point) the unfield dressed deer back to my fourwheeler 5-6 hundred yrds, i did let him use a saftey harness as a drag. once he got it there he loaded it on,after the drag, the guy was at the point of collapse, thats when i made him lay down on the deer, i ran the does head though his arms, took the does rear legs and zip tied them too to his leg and took a ratchet strap to make sure they didn't fall off on the ride back to the barn. called the GW and told him i had him a belated Christmas present he was waiting at the barn when i drove up and couldn't quit laughing the whole time he was writing the guys tickets out, and now that i think about it i think my dad signed an affidavit.

as a side note, the guy got a ticket for trespassing, poaching, hunting without hunters orange, and after an investigation, they also charged him with burglery, and possesion of stolen property, apparently the four wheeler he had and both guns were hot.

the next guy i caught had apperently heard the story, cuz when i tossed him the zippties and told him to put them on, he started crying and said you not gonna strap me to that deer nakeed are you

a good friend of mine tried to get me to do that a few yrs ago, but that first yrs pay kinda kept me from doing it.

i have the utmost respect for State Game Wardens, i never mind helping them out( making it easy to catch the ones need catch'n) but i can't afford to do it full time

I call bullsh*t. Who carries around zipties? Plus, couldn't you be charged for holding someone at gunpoint and detaining them against their will???
