Black Duck?

Help me out, is this a Black!!! Sorry for the bad lighting will try to get better pics if needed. Never shot a Black before, I think it is but from reference photos but wanted some info.

i do believe it is, i think if it was a summer mallard it would have a more irradescent speculum and more white on the edges. but i think someone who has shot a black duck before needs to chime in.......

Speculum doesn't look right, may just be the light!

Mottled too much rust on the fringes of the feathers...would still go on my wall.....i killed one last yr at one of our favoite public spots thouht it to be a black too but 3 different bios with teh state say mottled......and there have been a few more killed there this yr but were juvi's

the speculum is usually bluer, but it could definitely be the light. congrats.

Mottled ducks have a greenish speculum
Black ducks have a Dark purplish speculum
Mallards - well if you don't know ........

The "white fringe" that is there on your bird is often found on black ducks. I don't worry much about it.
