i probably had a couple hundred mallards come in the decoys friday but wouldnt you know i would have gun trouble all morning. i shot at one greenhead with a buddys gun. so i was one for one on the day.

I just thought someone would appreciate the information.. I will keep my mouth shut because a forum is not a public place for open discussion, we need to get on here and talk about not talking. again, you've missed the point. you/we don't have to be talking about slaughtering them, just talking about where they are is damage enough (if you do/or don't hunt public), for those who do. hopefully, it will "click" with you one day and you'll understand why you are getting the backlash that you are. until then, embrace your topwater status and wear it proud.

...and good luck with the new forum....sounds like it will be a big hit with all you newbies with your panties in a wad b/c you're getting "scolded" for naively screwing up hunts for others!

have you noticed other established members doling out "where", other than vague, general areas? do you think you are the first in all of the days of this board's existence, with any valuable info...and we were are all just toodling along in a fog until you came aboard??

Few ducks South of hwy 82, and they are scattered on sheet water. Looks like we have more water coming today? High water seems to be hurting the hunting in the Natural brakes around as well.

Well I don't know how big of a spread u put out but it would take a mighty big one to hunt 155OO acres. I guess your definition of vague and mine could be different but 15500 acres is pretty deadgum vague. And ill wear topwater so proud ill get a tattoo! I'd rather spend my time huntin than be a veteran that doesn't and sits on the computer harassing people who want to be involved in a discussion about a sport let me rephrase, a way of life that they love..

in the big pic, 15k ac isn't that much...150k is getting closer, so sounds like our defs are indeed different. i'm thinking about quadrants or even halves of the state, vagueness.

i'd rather spend my time hunting, too, but work seems to get in the way too often . put a pic up in the "tatt up" post of your tatt when you get it!

What's the word? Interested in seeing if ya'll are seeing more flight ducks....I know that it's gettin' colder north of us and alot of the Northern states are gettin' snow, but what are ya'll seeing? My buddy has to stay home this weekend and work on his truck #@#$%#$^$%%^! What a great time to do that Shsigiatititttttttt! it's killin' me right now....

A lot of people (especially those just getting into the sport) are just tickled to have a place to go. You can't kill a duck if you don't have a place to go. Public land is a prime target - especially the ones that are heavily publicized.

Understood. It seems harmless, but there are all types of folks out there. Until you get to know someone character pretty well I don't advocate enlisting just anyone into the sport I cherish. If you had a daughter that asked you if she could go on a date with 'Boomer', you'd probably waqnt to know something about 'Boomer' before you gave her permission, right? Why wouldn't you be as protective of anything else you cherish.....like a decent place to hunt? The flood of relatively inexperienced hunters at public areas tend to reduce the quality of hunting for those that are typically more familiar with the area. Deservedly, the locals typically end-up in the good spots anyway due to familiarity......and then have to contend with folks bumping around in the dark and lobbing steel skyward in hopes that one errant pellet will find its mark. At best, everybody else gets 'scraps'. Nothing against inexperience......we've all been there.....you gotta start somewhere. But you also have to develop a lot of patience when you first start-out - folks get bored if they aren't getting any ducks close enough to work - sometimes they resort to foolishness which usually impacts other hunters out there, that know you don't kill something everytime you go. While some may appreciate your efforts to share information - others will not. Just depends on an individual's perspective.

No harm intended on your part or anyone else's part, here. Bottom line is.......the internet has changed duck hunting .....and not necessarily for the better. It has reduce our sport from passion-driven to 'fad'. Access to habitat has improved, making it more available to the masses. This site (aside from the fact that it doesn't make any attempt to channel discussions about public areas to Private Message format ONLY - like the 'Refuge') is as much to blame for the diminishing quality of hunting over the last 10 years.........but you CAN engage in some other discussion about other aspects of duck hunting that can be helpful. I look forward to more of your input to this site as we all have something to say at times, and need feedback to substantiate the things we're still learning about. The only way we can reduce the negative impacts of the internet on our sport is to be wise-enough to think about what we're saying and how it might impact our sporting heritage. Duck hunting as a whole has been reduced to 'keeping score'. I am satisfied if I get to work one mallard into a well-placed spread in a tight timber hole, make a clean kill, and watch my dog complete the final portion of the team effort. Many seem to focus on the 'stuff'.......that's commercialization, not self-sufficiency. Self-sufficiency is not measured by how much stuff you have, but by how what you can accomplish with the stuff you have.

So again, people that understand how damaging discussions regarding 'location' can be to those that grew-up around and hunted those areas with their fathers and grandfathers - would appreciate some respect and consideration just as much as you might oneday, when your son gets to the age to duck hunt,.....and you hope there's a place you can take him without spending lease fees and driving 3 hours one-way, to take him on his first hunt surrounded by 'score-keepers'.

Once again - no harm intended by either of us.......just asking that folks refrain from mentioning specific locations such as management areas and other public access places. Folks that get-out and make the effort to check things out for themselves should be the ones to benefit from those efforts - not someone that sit behind a keyboard, looking for 'scraps' or 'handouts' (comment directed at no one in particular - but at the general group of 'me', 'me', 'me'-type folks who want everything to be 'given' to them.)
