Opening Day Results 11/27/09

Didn't get to hunt Friday, Sat started off good but we couldn't hit chit ended up with 2 gadwals and two woodies, should have been limits of woodies and bout 12 Gads. Didn't hunt this morning because of lack of birds and rain.

We got a group of 5 mallards 6 feet off the water @ 18 yds........the season has started-off good for no more birds than there seems to be right now. And to have a group of mallards 'WORK' for a change (especially this early) gives me hope.

Hope aint got nothing to do with yo' weather or da birds bro....its gots to do with yo president...just wait...yo lucks about to CHANGE...Obama '08....i had heard he is going to make the duck hunting better fo everyones

My opening day started off good at the boat ramp, then it went south when I got lost in the fog.
Didn't get my bearings straight until it was almost daylight. By then, I had two groups set up in
the spot I was going. Ahhh the joys of public land hunting. Nobody's fault but my own. I'm too
broke and dumb to have a GPS so mother nature won the opening morning battle.

I think I shot 3 times, and wiffed all three. The guys that set up where I wanted to go didn't decoy
the first bird. I guess they enjoyed sky busting too much. I didn't go the rest of the weekend. Gonna
wait until the opening weekend warriors get out of the way.

Opening morning: 4 Green heads, 1 hen, 2 gadwalls

Sat morning: 1 wigEon, 1 greenwing teal, 3 gadwalls, 2 shovlers, 1 green head, 1 ring neck, and 1 banded wood duck.

Didn't go sunday morning.

Friday evening - 3 hunters + 5 minutes = 6 woodies

Started season Sat. morning... saw around 300 wood ducks and heard two groups of grays then the sky went empty around 7:00. Had a group about 300 yards from us blasting away... they fired over 100 shots. Found out after the hunt they were eliminating the coot population. Apparently they was hungry for some gumbo.

1 woody friday, 1 gadwall sunday, and someone felt sorry for us staying out in the rain and gave us a mallard they shot...but at least we didnt sink the boat!!!

Opening morning - 3 hunters, 3 limits by 8:00. 8 mallards, 1 pintail, 2 gw teal and 7 gadwalls. Sunday morning was much slower with only a pair of widgeon and a gw teal. Hoping this weather may push a few more ducks down this way.

My opener blew donkey balls cause some punk booty college kids came in 20 minutes before shooting light and proceeded to set up after walking through my decoys. So I offered them to come sit with us so no one got hurt. They moved right down from us and sky busted wood ducks proclaiming GADWALL everytime they fired a shot. It was 6 of them and 3 of us if it would been a little more even it'd prolly gotten ugly. Thanks to nimrods like that though tibbee creek is no longer fit to hunt and I live on the creek. It's a shame common courteousey is no more, we'd been there for two hours when they finally showed up.

Nice Saturday morning bag for North MS. It was Cold to say the least. 3 hunters 5 mallards and 3 wood ducks. Pics are from my Iphone so you know the rest.
