Paintin my boat

Im paintin my aluminum boat and i wanted to know if any of u guys had any pointers on what brand of paint i could use. I have used Krylon camo but wanted to know if there was anything better? that would last longer.

have u tried takin a wire brush on a grinder and cleanin it down to the aluminum then paintin it thats what i did to my boat and it works like from the factory

the first thing i would do would be try posting this in the general discussion section (the correct section) instead of posting it in the classifieds :lol:

Oops!! sorry wrong place. Somebody holla at tuel2 he like movin my shat to the right loc any ways. Thanks for the correction newbie.

Etching primer works real well for a base coat and like the guy said parker paint is some good stuff

no problem man...hope i didnt come across as a jerk either. i clicked the thread initially cause i had been looking for tips to paint mine as well...except mine is fiberglass, but i figure the process is similar

Get the old paint off and down to bare aluminum (preferably with a sand blaster) then spray a coat of self etching primer. Once it dries, put 2 coats of Parker Duck Boat paint on it and your good to go for far longer than spray paint lasts.

No need to take it down to bare aluminum. Get a big brush on a gringer and buff away anything loose. The whole boat needs to be done this way if possible. Make sure on an aluminum you use a ZINC OXIDE primer. As far as the top paint just a good enamel. The parker paint is good. The key is getting a good seal and using the right primer!
