Postby RebDuck » Sun Nov 15, 2009 10:31 pm

Looking to build a rack for my wheeler to carry decoys, guns, etc., on out to the blinds. Anyone got some photos of some set ups.

Thanks

You can make this rack for about $15 - $20......and if you have scrap metal laying around, you could use that as well.

Basically, I used square tubing and made a big "L". I made a way to just slide it in and out very easily (with larger tubing welded to existing rack). It's lightweight (10 lbs) and I can easily put 2-3 bags of decoys on the back. The majority of the rack hangs off the back, so my dog can sit on the existing rack.

I've got a removable rack that I haul my Four Rivers boat on that works nice, but last year I bought one of the John Deere plastic carts from Home Depot and it works like a charm behind my Honda.

Jelly, those are some nice racks. Especially with the addition of the lights on the green bike. I may have to build me something like that. Although I believe I have mastered the art of bungying everything.

Made one outa 3/4" angle iron for piroque or 10' john boat. Careful about too much load on top; at least with the Yamaha it can fall in deep ruts and fall over sideways. KEEP feet on the pegs; gun in a scabard! I clamp mine through the rack with 4 ea. 3/4" "RA"s which are right angle conduit clamps with the saddle reversed. Makes taking it on and off pretty simple. The 2 lower cross bars are for stowing the piroque when goin down the hwy on the trlr. Only thing I'd change is lower the height about 6" for easier loading/unloading. I was worried about bumpin my noggin...

Jelly& Bsprig's are stouter/compact. Mine was wide for luminum boat. After my "tump over" I never loaded too much stuff up top. The expanded metal and rails are great idea especially for the wider wheelbase Hunders. Main reason I posted is to show an easy way to attach/remove by using the conduit clamps around the rack bars and thru the basket around the bars in the back. The uprights and cross bars give good places to bungee stuff....Gotta turn pero over I learned as almost wore a hole vibrating down the hyway...Hopes this helps...

Sometimes leave the pero chained to trailer and just take layout/tub and cart all on rack.

Here's the old pic of the war wagon. Before layout blind used the grass mats w/back rest...

Might as well show the redneck shift lever w/Mcgyver tape, leather purse w/ bull lite, etc. and paper machine felt to keep mutt from tearing the seat.
