FEDERAL STAMP

Postby blacklab101 » Fri Nov 16, 2001 8:29 am

Hey guys, on the back of the federal stamp I noticed it had facts about the federal stamp. One of them was that the holder of the stamp could use it to gain access to National Refuges or something like that. I don't have the backing for the federal stamp that I read it on, can somone tell me if this is right and what refuges can you use it for? Thanks.

That is correct, but it does not say which refuges.

FEDERAL STAMP

There are refuges that require the stamp for access to the refuge period. Mississippi to my knowledge has no such refuge. The stamp is required to hunt waterfowl also and that is why we purchase it here.
With that said many of the local refuges here require a permit to hunt on these areas. This has no relationship to the printed statement on the back of the federal stamp. A permit must be purchased and you must also have the stamp to hunt.
The funds gained by the waterfowl stamp not only goes toward habitat for ducks it also covers habitat for all waterfowl even those that are not hunted. There are those refuges that allow no hunting at all and yet the stamp is required to gain access to the facility to bird watch are nature trails and the like.
