Smacked em'!!!

Postby Jeff » Wed Nov 14, 2001 4:02 pm

What a hunt we had this mornin'. Just one of those great mornings. Runnin the river, just got to sit in the boat and watch the stars, not many big ships or crew boats going up or down river so it was and easy and peacful trip for a change. Then when we got set up it was on! Four of us killed 24, each a drake pintail, I got 1 drake weidgon, 1 drake gray, 1 mottled duck, and two teal, everyone else was a mix of the same stuff. It was mucho fun, and saw TONS and TONS of ducks. I bet at least 2,000 pintail. Had to work to not shoot too many of them. Well thought that might get some of you MS boys foamin' at the mouth, so Hope that helps tide ya'll over till the start of the season.

Jeff, I am glad that you had a good time and a great hunt. Those are the ones that we all like to remember (and will for the rest of our lives). I hope that you have many more of those this season and the seasons to come. How did Lacey do? Did she have a big time? Jack

Shoot them sprigs on their first pass!

Jeff-

Thats a nice hunt. Sounds like you were at the mouth. Seems like theres lots of pintail around....I don't know, they seem to be doing pretty well to me...maybe there all in south LA. Who knows? Gonna be up in Tensas this weekend for the east opener. Probably a big mistake sounds like there are more birds down south. Oh well, I'm locked in now I'll let you know what we do. Good luck and keep stacken up those ragedy ducks.

First, Jack Lacey stayed at home as we hunted over my buddies Field Trial dog which we needed down there not that Lacey wouldn't have done it, but it's still big time life's like a box a choclates things with her every day. Louis, Jack hutned Myrtle Grove and hammered them. Elmo.. chuckle chuckle well he agreed to judge a hunt test the same weekend before he realized they had move the season opener up a week so he didh't hunt. That has been a blast givin him hell about that. We did okay on the lease, but not a ton of ducks, need a cold front big time. Jack and dos gris, yes the mouth of the river it was and man was it awesome. Never had to work so hard to NOT shoot a pintail. Went back this mornin before arrivin' in Memphis today and shot another limit. It's good shootin down there, although the ducks allow you to relax, don't start workin till an hour after sunrise, so no need to kill yourself gettin downthere for first light. Ah these are the days. Now no duckin' for a week, gotta move Shelly from Memphis to New Orleans and then get her settled at her rotation sight in Missourri. Good luck those of you all that hunt this weekend.

Thanks for the update Jeff, Clad you had a great hunt. I know Lacey would not have let you down. Be sure to give Elmore a ton of Sh%t for me about the Hunt Test. I look forward to seeing you in March, I'll be judging Senior. Give me a call if you want to hunt some flooded timber latter this year after yall close.
