boat hp restrictions on wmas?

Postby Greenhead329 » Sun Nov 08, 2009 10:29 pm

I remember reading somewhere some wmas are restricted horsepower wise. Aren't they usually limited to 25hp? can't seem to find the info on this anymore, any help would be greatly appreciated!

All WMA's are restricted to 6hp or less for the 09-10 migratory bird season...

I wish I would have had a dozen of these things this year. You can't find a used 6 hp anywhere guess I am going to have to get some new decals for my 9.9!

With the new regs I just put it on my 16' and set the 40 on the rack if I am hunting WMAs. Its a pain but what can you do. That 9.9 will move it pretty good if I am not into the wind. I wish we could still use regular size motors but I quess they were fed up with the racing and that old boy got ran over didnt help. He was from Georgia so technically he should not have been out there to begin with.

^^^^ You got that right. We still hunt four guys out of the boat so we took the 60 hp off the 18' duck boat and I found a 70' model 6hp that we threw on the back. The new rule changes suck but what can you do???? I feel bad for the boys that show up at the ramp with their 25s & 40s and the GW dosn't let em put in.

Anyone heard what the ticket might cost? I would think sometime during the week you might could get away with it. Its almost like watching paint dry running that 9.9 oh excuse me 6hp.
