Taste ranking ducks..........

I am trying to get my taste buds primed.

5. Toss up.........Pintail,wigeon,and others.
4.Mallard.
3.Gadwall.
2.Any teal.
1.Wood duck


I am just curious. Do any of you eat shovelers or coots? I met a guy who does and he swears he can make them taste good. I dont know if I'll try to find out. If he cooks duck for supper, I think I'll have a burger.

I have eaten some GOOD gumbo made with shovelers and coot. They were boiled first in crab boil and then put into the gumbo.

Coot gumbo ain't too bad if you put enough seasoning in it. Course, my bride says I'd eat cardboard if you put enough hot sauce on it. By the way, had some mighty fine cold, salty and slimy oysters this weekend.
