I've seen the call, and I saw some dude on tv using it. To me it sounded pretty much like a mallard call and it seems to me that you could just use what you've got. That's what I've always done with pretty good success.

I have one and i have put Grey ducks on the water with it and i have seen them go the other way to. I think it helps some just like a pintail whistle when you have several callers in the pit with you and ya'll are putting it all together.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things

Haydel's is the best sounding. I used one last year and a buddy used a DC. No comparison. Those grayducks would answer that Haydels every time.

I agree. The DC gadwall sounds like there is a ring to it,and the Haydels doesn't do that. But, my Haydels would stick all the time, the DC never has. Illinois River makes one that I would like to try. Where I hunt, we get a lot more" grays" than we do "greens".

You can make the same "call" with any decent single reed. Its just one less thing to have to carry.

We always jerk the hell out the jerk string or kick in the water to make splashing sounds. Make that mer mer sound with your mouth and hold on tight cause they are to dumb to stop coming in.
Damn, i thought I had that one

Is that buddy of yours tryin to blow that call or make love to it?

Hands down buy a Haydel Gadwall......We kill the crap out of Gadwall at Beaver Dam in Tunica and with out a doubt the Haydell sounds more realistic. The haydel call was responsible for about 500 deaths last year.

Ive got a gadwall call, Haydels... I have just as much luck with a regular mallard call. Just a bump here and there.... It does the trick! I do carry it in my bag to give someone that is not good on a call....... Dont forget silence kills too! Good luck this year fellas!
