I love my Chapman Pirogue. I also had a Gheenoe/Riverhawk with a 6hp motor. Both good hunting boats. The Gheenoe with the motor gives you more range without having to take another boat and it is super stable. The pirogue is good for really skinny water, and is super light.

I have two 12.5 Ft. Gehnoe's and would not trade them for anything. One man can stand at the rear and pushpole in 3" of water with decoys and a dog. With an old 3hp. evinrude duck twin, it's the best duck boat you will ever own. They are made by Riverhawkboats now, and the web site and dealers are:

Check out mallardmarine.com. I have the polythylene Marsh Rat. It weighs 68lbs and can be dragged just about anywhere. It is the cheapest marsh boat you'll find.

I do stand corrected. There are two mfg. and the Gheenoe was more than likely copied by Riverhawk. I have an original Gheenoe and an original Riverhawk. Construction almost the same. I got my first used for $125, 25 years ago. Bought the second new for $800 about 12 yrs. ago. I see new they are up to $1250 or so. Glad both are doing good.

those of yall that have momarshes how do you transport them from your house to hunting location?
and do yall ever get on big rivers with them, going to the back water or do you stay strictly backwater? Have you found a use for them at walk in spots?
Trying to figure out how I would make one work for what little times I could use it

I agree with the four-rivers layout boats and similar style craft. The problem with alot of these boates is the weight rating and horsepower rating. If you are by yourself that usually will not be a problem. The other issue I have with some of the "molded" style boats, is that if you are unfortunate enough to obtain a crack, party is over and you will likely sink. This does happen with "plastics", in particular in cold weather, in water with stumps and other hidden obstacles. The problem with canoes and pirogues is that without alot of experience they can be unstable and difficulty to keep steady with movement from shooting and a dog.

I have built two layout style boats made from a foam core with a fiberglass skin that are very shallow drafting and incredible stable (one 13"10" with 60" beam, one with 11' and 48" beam).

I am not sure where you are located but you can PM and we can talk more. I would love to show you these boats.

I have a Gheenoe and a Momarsh DP- both are good boats. While relatively light, if you have to drag them more than 100 yards they will wear you out. I built a rack on my 4 wheeler to haul them, but have also used a small flat bed trailer to get them back in the woods. Depending on the distance to walk in, you may want to consider a float tube. Walk in and boat is a bad combination.
