i am pretty good with electronics. i am pretty confident with most applications. but i have hit a snag.
My brother has a large tv and a Yamaha surround sound(amp). I am looking to hook the tv up to the amp with the ability of changing the volume of the TV through the stereo.
let me try and explain this better. i know how to hook the "Audio out" into the AUX IN. thats easy stuff. I want the ability to set the amp at a certain level, hit volume up on the tv remote, and the volume increases through the stereo. The volume indicater on the Tv would be increasing but with no sound coming from the TV, all through the amp..
Did i explain this clearly?

I think you are going to have to do it the other way around.I've never seen a set-up done that way' but I have seen set-ups where the TV volume was set and then the volume was adjusted through the surround. Unless you can program the TV remote to run the surround.

Re: TV sound through Stereo....
It seems like the phono input on one I had once was variable.
Re: TV sound through Stereo....
Sounds like you may just need a good universal remote that you will be able to program each into. Some of the newer logitechs should allow you to do this.

Re: TV sound through Stereo....
I found my answer. The TV must have the option of varible audio output. The TV does not have this option this meaning its a "fixed audio output". Although I've read that using a headphone jack van bypass this fixed output. Thanks guys.
