Looks like that first good wave of gaddies and widgeon are here. Saw about 500 just outside of Greenwood this weekend. Don't know why they are here, but they are. Quite a few mallards too. Anyone else seeing anything??

Drove all around Marks, Clarksdale, and Cleveland. Didn't see a thing, not even shovelers on catfish ponds.

Hey softcall, if you call too soft then they can't hear you. There ain't no ducks around greenwood. Mallardchaser told me that you can't call anyway.

Hmmmm - SB..you know I can't call too loud. Too many Marlboros over my 33 years. It's not a benefit, it's a damn handy cap. If I call too loud, I'll pass out and fall over in the hole and drown. pass me the old charter...

I've seen them at the resevoir. 3-400 ringneck and scaup, 6 cans, 9 canadas, 20-30 widgeon, 2-300greys, plus a few odd hollywoods, mergansers, and mallards. Plenty of those birds at the wildfowl observatory on 43-West of the river. Great place to listen to birds and learn to call.

Hey SoftCall, you sound like my type of person. Just to make you Mississippi boys a little proud, I won both the Goose and Duck callin' championship in the famed Katy Prairie (Tx) DU contest. Blind Hog Finds an Acorn!! pass the Charter....

right on dambo! No need for all of the fancy stuff - ducks like other ducks, not parlor room callers!

Hey Softcall, you need to switch to Ultra Lights, they are good for you. The inside of those Haydel's are supposed to be clear, and mine are brown, I always put down that Marlboro and my first blow at em is an exhale. We are close together, less that 30 min. We need to drink Charter(none of that old stuff either, j/k) and at least talk about shooting ducks. We should try to hunt together a couple of times, I usually have room, I will get ol mallardchaser to give me your cell number during the season. Hit em' hard on that last pass, and make em' lock up.

Hey there pe--erwood, why can't you make it rain? We need a little rain down here. I have been reading this site for a long time, but I never posted, just like hearin' the duck talk.

Hey Bates, I thought you had given up the smokes and started running 4 miles a day. I didn't expect to see you on the duck board now that you are the "buckmaster." You still have not sent me a pic of your P&Y. Maybe we can shoot a few ducks this year, and finish off a couple of bottles like the college days.

Bates - I gave up the Haydel's calls. Got to many funny looks from people when I was driving down the road practicing. I guess they though I was smoking on a crack pipe or something. I stick with the ole single reed coca's and acrylics.

We do need to connect this year. The leases are only a few miles away as the crow flies. Regardless - we need to start a Saturday night cocktail club at Webster's or the Crystal club in Greenwood. We'll include mallardchaser even though he did leave me at the alter on this Oklahoma deal! I am leaving Thursday for 5 days to hunt out there.

By the way - that was a nice buck. Who knows, I might even deer hunt this year after seeing that.

Good luck on your hunt man that sounds awesome. I am going to Ark. to try em up. This sure ain't duck weather, not for me anyway. And it is great to hear from the gant. I should have known who the gant was. I am sending you a pic of my deer right now. Call me a few days in advance when ya'll are coming home, maybe you guys could come stay in Gwood with us on the way to the gant one night, you haven't hunted there in years, it hasn't changed much, the hunting I mean! Let me know how Oklahoma goes softcall. Sat. night drinking club at Websters sounds delicious. That is about a ten minute drive for me.
