Out of State license/Duck Stamp

Postby ScottS » Tue Nov 13, 2001 8:59 pm

I bought my Miss (non-res) hunting license over the phone a few weeks back, and also bought my MS State duck stamp at the same time. I received what looks like a giant register tape, about 7 inches long, which I presume is my license. There is a place for a State and Federal stamp on the back so it must be the actual license.

My question is...was I supposed to receive an actual state duck stamp from these folks? I ask this because the license shows where I paid the $10.00 for the stamp but I didn't get a physical stamp to put on the back of the license.

Any help clarifying this will be appreciated immensely.

P.S. This is my first time to buy a license/stamp over the phone from Miss. I've always bought them in person.

I know in AR that when you buy Non Res over the Net the stamp came a lot later. I'd say check the license carefully and the price. I'll bet it has that you paid for the stamp on it somewhere.
I know I didn't receive my stamp for AR until the season was over last year, and I bought it before it started

Duckmen & damnyankee,

Thank you for the replies gentlemen.
Yes, my license has where I paid for the stamp on it. In fact it reads:

60 - State Waterfowl Stamp $10.00
Quantity: 1

33 - Small Game Hunting $75.00

I presume I am legal if it shows that I bought a stamp but I'd hate to be ticketed for not actually having a signed stamp with me. My Federal stamp is signed so I have no worries there.

Again, thanks to both of you and Duckmen, let me know what you find out. My e-mail is enfield1860@yahoo.com.

MSU,
I have been doing the same for La. duck hunting and the register tape is all I get ever. I have never had an actual La. duck stamp. I assume this is the same in MS.

I ordered my sportmans over the phone. The stamp did not come with it. I called and they sent me the stamp. You need the stamp.

MSU Duck,
You were suppose to get a stamp with that licence, It is not valid without a stamp.

Call Merna @ 601-432-2055 She needs a number off of your licence to send a replacement stamp.

You must have the stamp attached to be legal.

Hope this helps

In AR, not sure about MS., The license is legal without the stamp. Since it says you purchased one on it. But you should eventually get one in the mail. Sounds like you should call Game and Fish and make sure, advice here is free and you get what you pay for.

I got the Sportsman License and had the same thing happen. They are mailed out from some processing station out of state. They don't ship with stamps. I had to re-request a state stamp. They are super nice people to work with. Got the stamp in a couple of days.

same thing as LA out of state license..if you look on there, it will say $10.00 for the stamp or $25.00 in LA..for an addittional amount they'll send you a stamp.

Since you have to sign the back of the stamp to "cancel" it, you have to have the stamp. At least that is what the local guy told me.

On the face of my non-res LA license below 'License Privileges' under NR La Duck Stamp.......$25.00 it says... <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote
Physical Stamp not required but may be aquired for $3.50 by writing to LDWF.......
I interpret that to mean I don't have to have the 'physical' stamp.....but , I don't know......according to a recent post about so-called 'corrupt' agents this might be one of those (alleged) cases of 'entrapment', referred to (HORSE PUCKEY!) So, Ya'll WATCH OUT!

I'm assuming there is a similar provision for such on the Mississippi NR license.

Yeah, I save every stamp, too ('have all my family members' Federal stamps back to 1954.....'year I was born.

It IS a shame we have to pay extra to have a real 'stamp'.....'just one o' them 'thangs', though. One consolation......I trust it'll help the 'agencies' provide more and better hunting opportunities and services for the hunters ....AND protect the resources. You gotta have funds to pay qualified folks.
