Boomless Sprayer ATV

Postby chopper30 » Mon Oct 05, 2009 2:48 pm

Anyone ever used these? Any problems?

I'm looking for an ATV/UTV sprayer to mainly spray food plots and my yard from time to time. Not ever using one of these before, I don't know what to think. Do they spray the widths advertised? Is it better than buying a boom? I understand if would be nice to not have to worry about dodging trees and such with a boom, but need some feedback before I go with it over a 10-foot boom.

Got one that will drop in the back of your ranger with a 100 gallon tank and 35' spray width (one boominator nozzle).

Also got a 25 gallon with 10' spray width (3 boomless nozzles).

Your welcome to borrow either anytime.

To each is own, Im use to a boom, but granted ours is a break away boom so if you hit an obstruction it bends back and then snaps back into place. I think it depends on the areas (food plots) you intend to spray. How hard do think it would be to spray your areas w/ a 10ft boom? I use both but I prefer the boom, but I will go ahead and tell you Im in the minority on this one. The reason I use a boom is b/c I instead of buying one I borrow one from the golf course when I need it, and it works out nicely for the both of us.

Dan where did you find yours? when I take this new job, I will loose access to the one I have and not sure if the new place will let me take equipment home when I need to. Im going to be buying a Ranger in late May-early June and want to build something like that. Depending on the cost, I may build or I may buy.

I would go with a boom, but make sure it has a wand as well if your going to use it around the house. You have to be able to cut in your chemicals around the driveways, curbs, trees, edges of house, etc. and this is almost impossible with a boom only.

I buy my nozzles and tanks from Bell in Inverness but I build the rigs. Your welcome to borrow one anytime as well.

Booms are more precise and wind isnt as much a concern, but when spraying food plots etc the boomless just makes life easy.

I appreciate that Dan, but dad is wanting to buy one so we don't have to haul tractor and 100 gallon sprayer around all year spraying roads, clover, etc... You like the boomless nozzles? They work as advertised?

The one Im currently useing is from Bell, but its a 300gal mounted on trailer for ag use. We bought it to spray rough with at one course and never used it so they sold it to my dad for the company to use as a water tanker in the clay pits and around the plant. Its nice but to big. Thanks for the offer and I would like to look at yours when the time gets closer to me buying my Ranger, but I will prob build one cause I suspect I will be needing it regularly. Got some other plans in mind for a side buisness like spraying home lawns and such.

I have a 20 foot Bowman boom on my Polaris that I spray my yard and dove field with. Works great. It is a commercial rig, not a 100 dollar job from the hardware store.

We sprayed about 10 miles of trails on the WMA with a tractor and one fan nozzle that covered about 20 feet. Stuff we went through there would've made a boom look like a pretzel.

Each has there own pros and cons, but for a yard, when you don't want it in the flowers, I'd go with a boom and have the wand for those hard to reach spots. For food plots amongst the limbs and trees and bushes, that one nozzle is the way to go.

Here is a commercial sprayer I can make a deal on just for you. Should spray plots with no problem and you want break a sweat.

Good point, plus my neighbors with centepeed might not think to kindly if a little MSMA gets in their yard...

The single nozzle we had sprayed straight up and out to sides (like a turkey fan), so I wouldn't recommend it when you don't want drift on something.

However, you could possibly arrange it so that it is spraying straight back or down slightly and would cut out most of the drift problems.

For camp/food plot purposes yes I would prefer a boomless. The good ones do work as advertised but you will pay for them. The 35' boominator was like $135 bucks just for the stainless steel tip.

For your yard a boom would probably be better because its more precise, and like others have said a hand wand for the spot spraying.

Can you put turf tires on it for that price? I'd hate to track up my greens

I bought a boomless nozzle this year. It sprays about 20 feet. I sprayed my food plots and roads and it did a great job. Like mentioned above, I would not use it in the yard around busy areas, would do good in open areas. I highly recommend a boomless nozzle for food plots.

Chop, for the use of what you want to do, you can't go wrong with a boomless spray. I have a 25gal tank with 15' boomless nozzle that I spray all my roads, trails, fence rows, etc... I have 2 - 55gal barrels that I haul water in and can fill my tank in about 4 minutes... I have a good little setup for plots, etc.

Here's the nozzle I use, actually have a couple of them.
