I am the national head organizer for the new Pimp action committee at Acorn. I will assume my new position after I complete my motivational training certification on "How to slap a Ho" and the required conflict resolution class "YO! don't call my Ho no Be-ach"
Seriously, Hats off for all of you that lend your time to help especially with children.
Civic Organizations. Who's in what?

I am in the Lions Club in your hometown Matador. We meet two times per month for lunch and we usually have some type of speaker. We have a couple of fundraisers that we do and most of our money is spent locally. If the schools identify a child that needs glasses and their parents can't afford it then we will pay for it. We do other things in the community and we give money to help support the state eye bank. There is also a Lion's All State Band that is funded by the state Lion's. It is a pretty prestigious thing for a high school kid to make the Lion's Band.
I would recommend finding someone who is in the Lions Club or Rotary Club. You have to be invited and someone in the club has to sponsor you. It is a great way to give back to the community as well as network with other business men and women.

Sounds like you are trying to do stuff to build a buisness asking about this and networking groups. Not only are civic groups fun they also get you and your name out in front of everyone while working for a great cause.
No actually the Civic org is a way of me "reinventing" myself. I have went through some tough times the past couple of years. I finally sat down one day and decided most of my problems, I created in one way or another. After that revelation I decided to begin giving back and trying to do batter.
Bravo Man. That is awesome, sounds like you have really turned over a new leaf. As others have stated just about any civic group is a great thing. I am involved with the Lions club also (it's natural since I'm an optometrist) they are all things that make you feel good at the end of the day. Good luck with picking one, plenty people will benefit no matter which group you pick.

he's next door to my office in bost. if you come to bost, go up to the 3rd floor and take a left out of the elevator, then a right and a lot of the kids' hunts are on posters down the hall (the office is nothing but hunt posters on the walls).
For 2 years I delivered documents to that office. Real nice people in there, and their work shows with the smiling kids on those posters and pictures. My first trip up there, was something i will never forget. Seeing the posters, the tanned hides, the mounts, and the lady that seemed to light up the room, I often thought he had the best job in the whole building. I guess I need to send him my resume and see if I can contribute

On a note of civic organizations, my grandmother is in the Starkville Civic Legue. They do work around town and help a lot of people. All through the year, she is doing something to better someone. As she once told me "Giving, is twice as good as receiving!" When ever I get settled in I hope to one day do something were my actions help someone in need.
matador, good luck in your search. once found, I'm sure it will be something you enjoy to no end.
If I don't do it, I ain't gettin nun.......So i'm doing it
