Postby lilwhitelie » Thu Oct 01, 2009 6:49 am

Sent my wife by to get some pods since Van's was out. WHoever is making these gets an F. Seems to be some excsess ballon on inside that will cause anectine to ball up and get trapped in ballon. Going to Bills today as bad as I hate to.

That place out by the rez on 471 will sell them to you already loaded up nice and fat, at least that's what they used to do and I was told they still do.

Whats the point of using these? If you can shoot pretty well there should be no need for 'em....right?

not being an booty but if i had to guess why most of us shoot them, it is prolly bc we have lost a big one before due to not shooting it and would rather not feel that way again. it may or may not have made a difference but i would feel more confident in having a little powder on there in case the unexpectable happens again. yea, a good shot will usually put them down, but you never know when your only shot to take is not a perfectly clear hole to shoot thru and you miss by a few inches and not get the good vitals. just my 2 cents and don't take it as i'm being a smart booty

plus you won't wound a big deer and he won't die of gang green. There's always that CHANCE. I've lost several big ones including a 140 inch nine point last year. would have been my biggest deer ever and let alone with a bow. Had I been using the pod, he would have been dead in 30 seconds.

What is y'alls experience as far as how pods affect arrow flight? Obviously 20yds it wouldn't be that big of a difference, but it is the 40-50yd shots that I wonder about.

I dont shoot em anymore since the Rage was introduces, but when i did, i could tell a noticable difference in flight past 20 yds.

Yes they affect arrow flight bad! I use to use em. But learned a well placed arrow is way more deadly! With the technoligy and equipment we have available today there no reason to use it anymore! If u can't make that "perfect" shot u simply don't shoot! Except in rare circumstances u have no buisness making a shot over 30 tp 35yds anyhow! I guess u youngsters just need to grow up a little! Do ur homework and get a deer in that 20 to 25 yard range then break his neck! Guarantee ya he won't run off! I hate pods! Wish they would ban the use of em like they have in most every other state! Learn how to hunt and shoot or don't go! You can hit a 2 or 3 inch bullseye shootin at a target then why the hell u think u need poison is beyound me! Also not to mention u can't enter a trophy into the record books using it. Nor can you use it on any federal refuge lands!

If you shoot "Pretty" good why in the heck would you not shoot it.....................

Really its legal and in my eyes it just another ethical step in helping game recovery, so why not shoot it..........

Bottom line you can kill a deer with a weel placed shot from a 22 rifle but I will stick with my 7 mag.........and my pods

I never shoot past 25 yards and kill deer every year with my bow. It's not because we don't know how to shoot, I shoot everyday. Like the others have said, why not have it incase the unthinkable happens? What are you gonna say if you hit a vine or limb and hit a little far back "Well you don't deserve to find it" Give me a break. It happens all the time and it makes a good backup.

Well what happens is u get to depending on the annectine doing its job instead of your arrow! This leads u to sometimes making shots you shouldn't have made! U think all u have to do is hit him he will die! That's just not always the case! For several reasons u shouldn't depend on it. 1- you might not have enough in the pod to put a big deer down. 2- your pod may not open right or at the right time. 3- your poision may not be any good. (old or outdated). Its just a helper. If it was so ethicall then why is it banned in 48 states? Why is it that no trophy organization will allow its use? Why is it u can't use it on any federal reserve? But yea u right same song different year! Learn how to hunt and shoot or stay at home!
