pick something that you can be passionate about.... possibly something that has effected someone in your family.
Church missions is a good place to start. Support a ministry.
If you ever visit St Jude Hospital, you WILL give money to them... that place will rip your heart out....

Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, count to ten, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you wouldn't look good in prison stripes... and just smile at that dumbass and walk away.

I have been in Kiwanis for over 12 years. Our focus is children, we do lots to help them, and support them in school and we do just good stuff for the community.
Sounds like you are trying to do stuff to build a buisness asking about this and networking groups. Not only are civic groups fun they also get you and your name out in front of everyone while working for a great cause.

he's next door to my office in bost. if you come to bost, go up to the 3rd floor and take a left out of the elevator, then a right and a lot of the kids' hunts are on posters down the hall (the office is nothing but hunt posters on the walls).

Used to be in Lions Club. We did a lot with vision and eyeglasses. I was sight chairman and treasurer for a few years and every year I'd set a bunch of kids up with eye exams and glasses whose parents couldn't do it.

How about helping Mike out with his organization:

A Hunt Above is a ministry to children who have been diagnosed with life threatening illnesses and handicap children who have a DREAM WISH to hunt or fish. A Hunt Above's goal is to help everyone share in the joy of fulfilling a special child's dream.
Our Purpose To provide a FREE DREAM HUNT or FISHING TRIP to children who have been diagnosed with life threatening illnesses and handicap children. To protect and provide the rights of all Americans so they can enjoy our wonderful outdoors. To promote the biblical truth that God is the Creator and Savior of the world. To bring an awareness of our personal accountability to God. To share one's faith in Christ with others and also share the common joy and experience of hunting and fishing with these special children and their families. To foster faith, fun and fellowship among hunters and fishermen in Mississippi and all of America.

No actually the Civic org is a way of me "reinventing" myself. I have went through some tough times the past couple of years. I finally sat down one day and decided most of my problems, I created in one way or another. After that revelation I decided to begin giving back and trying to do batter.
