I found a place worse than State yesterday, yall heard me right.........worse than state. These folks were ruff. I saw one old man at the game in a ragged pink wife beater and his painter pants on in the stadium, stumbling around.

Columbia is as on rebel fan that lives in Greenville, SC put it the armpit of SC.

What type of class do you expect to see when UM fans talk about the whole region around Starkville like its "the land that fun forgot" as PoMonkeyLounger said one day? I've heard UM fans talk about how crappy and boring even the ride to Starkville is. Whats the point in putting down the roads that you have to take to a town? Not many State fans bash Oxford and most say that its a really nice little town.

The class statement was a bit of a "serious" joke I guess. Just seems some of these responses were typed out for the first time Ole Miss lost.

I personally like to give friends chit about Starkville but I liked it when I went last time even though it was a brief trip. I have only been a handful of times though! The ride is pretty miserable BUT have you ever been to Oxford up 45 from Meridian? Hands down, I would rather eat glass than make that trip. Same with the ride from Batesville south to Grenada from Oxford. I think the deep-seated hatred for the schools from both sides is a bit ridiculous at times. Both are good schools, as is Southern Miss. I think some folks drink a little too much Kool-aid (grape drink other places) when it comes to State v. Ole Miss. I have heard it all, the "pricks" from Ole Miss, the "skanks" from State, blah blah..most are inaccurate descriptions of the majority of students, I have seen just as many preppy pricks that go to State as I have at Ole Miss, shocking? I have also seen more "good ole boys" at Ole Miss than you would ever imagine. There is my rant on the situation, just never got into the whole I would rather kill myself than like both schools stage. There are more important things to me in life.

im with you chevy. went to school in oxford but have just as many close friends in starkville that i go visit all the time and always have a good time there. its just an opinion and gives us guys something to get drunk about and argue over. h3!! we are the one sitting at home drinking beer and yelling at the tv like it matters. thats why THEY are the ones on the field playing and not us. yea, i got friends that cuss and biiitcha each other out over which team is better and so forth, its just part of us to argue and say our reason is better than yours. when OM is playing state, im for OM. but when state is playing anyone else, im for state. guess thats enough now :D :D

If the ride from oxford to starkville is miserable, wouldn't that make the ride to oxford miserable for state fans?? I mean, isn't it the same route? :? :?

chevy I agree. Personally made several trips to Oxford to visit friends when I was at State and had some come over and party with us as well. Not every college aged peepee is at UM and not every farm boy is at State. But if having a great vet, ag and engineering school gets you that reputation then I guess who cares. Not sure if UM's rep comes from having a law/med school or all the fake tits and RangeRovers. Hell State sends just as many folks as UM does to UMC's med school, too so not sure where the elitist stuff comes in. Guess UM has the best literary/journalism in the state for what its worth and heralds Faulkner now...even tho he didn't have much to do with the school during his career.

The attitude that gets me was displayed on another thread talking about one of the espn announcers daughter going to MSU. An Ole Miss fan said they were confused at why a millionaires daughter would go to school there...wtf? Didn't know UM had the market cornered on millionaire kids.

As for the drive to either school, neither is all that great from Jackson. Guess I just never understood what was so great about turning right in Batesville.
