Camo Rain Suit Help

Postby chattahoochee » Sun Sep 20, 2009 11:49 am

I'm wanting some advice on what kind of camo rain suit I should buy. I'm wanting one that will hold up through downpours and one that will keep me cool on warm days. I like the looks of the drake EST heat escape waterproof jacket and rain pants, but don't know how well it will hold up in a downpour. I don't want anything real heavy because the only times I will be wearing a rain suit will be on wet dove shoots (like yesterday) and during bow season. I don't want a suit that is going to break the bank but do want one that will hold up real well.

The HS Drake stuff will keep you dry in a downpour. However, the fleece works only when it's drizzle/light rain.

I got some riverswest rain gear, I testes it in the shower for about 15 min and it kept me dry as a bone

they're about the only ones that i haven't heard anybody say that after an hour or so in a downpour, that the fabric isn't seeping at the seams on the inside. always dry.

They're as good as anything I've tried, but I haven't tried everything. Further, I tend to fish under bridges when it starts raining real hard. :?

I will say that I took a set of frog toggs to do some jetty fishing for big stripers up in Delaware. Had waves crashing OVER my head 'bout once every five minutes or so, with smaller ones in between. Frog Toggs didn't hold up. But those conditions are asking a lot of any raingear, especially stuff as light and portable as frog toggs are. Ended up getting some of those bibs and stuff like they wear on Deadliest Catch. That schit ain't cheap. But damned if I didn't stay dry.

PS...don't waste your time trying to bow hunt outta frog toggs.
It's a bloody mary morning...
