Giving a man a green truck and a badge doesn't neccessarily make him God's Gift to Conservation and Wildlife. I have been around some really shi**y GW's in the MSU area. (They fill the Forestry parking lot regularly.) Some are as corrupt as the hunter's they stalk. MANY AREN'T.

They are the only law enforcement officers that use entrapment on a regular basis. The DEA can't put a Kilo of cocaine on the street and then arrest the person that picks it up, can they? Put ole Stuffy on the side of the road in BFE and put a good rack on him and somebody is gonna shoot whether from a vehicle, the road, or from private property along the road and it is "road hunting."

They routinely tresspass to "inspect your land." Even the FBI, CIA, DEA, city and county law enforcement must have search warrants. The Fourth Ammendement does not apply to GW's. They can walk your place over looking for bait just because they hear you are having a good season.

I have never done anything illegal while hunting. I have never even gotten a traffic ticket, sorta . Maybe it is just the GW's that worked in my stomping ground, but I won't respect any GW that can get away with DWI while in their green truck and then give somebody a ticket for busting a duck a few minutes early or late.

My $0.02

I am sure this will ruffle feathers, but think about it. (The board seemed a little slow today)

Field and Stream had a great article/debate about this a few years back. Read it if you can find it.

In case you forgot your learnin':
nullnullAmendment Article 4
Right of Search and Seizure Regulated.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

During my days around Hwy. 61 North, Valley Park, Delta Nat., Holly Bluff etc (early 80's) there were a couple of Yankee Fed's (one was Mexican) that damn near received reprimands for harrassment. The "Mex" would sit and wait for us to leave our houses and try to follow us, hide in tractor tires, checked us once twice within two hours (we did not even shoot our guns). We planted the 2x4 with nails and passed him twice while he changed his flats! My uncle was a MS Game Warden for 20 years and he was the one that instructed us to file a complaint. He said a MS GW that pulled that type of thing would not be in the bizz to long, not to mention it breeds resentment and hard feelings. Do not get me wrong we new and followed the laws and he had no reason other than someone telling him that we were duck huntin' fools, and that set them on our trail. Pilgreen is famous and justly so, it's a hard life and a hard way to make a livin' but from what I heard from my cousin in Charleston, that guy was everywhere, even saved a few lives during his career.

If you guys are getting too many good GW's send some of them this way. We have about one really good one in the area that I have confidence in, one that I wouldn't trust with a wooden nickel and the others I wouldn't know them jack from jane. But the one's that are really trying to do their job deserve a thumbs up, cause like several of you have said, "They don't get paid enough for what they do" The one that I mentioned earlier is about a sorry $&#*&)(#)(%&#(%&#&
&%O#&$%Y*@&%), yep bout that much, we were having trouble with some trespassers on different occasions and he lived within 5 miles of our club. We called him on 2 occasions to tell him the trespassers was on the property, his response " We probably can't catch them". But instead a couple of club members had to catch the trespassers ourselves and call the "good" GW that lives on the other end of the county to come help. And he would at the drop of a hat, no matter what time of day or week. I guess I'm glad we have at least one reliable one
