It's YA'LLs child. If Gramps did something and you didn't agree, by dam let him know about it. My wife would never question me if I said something to her father about a sensitive issue such as OUR children and him trying to undermine them.
Now my wife knows me, and she knows that if that happened to us, I would not hesitate to nip that in the bud. I would treat it the same way if my parents did it.
Have you told your wife it bothers you. That would be the first step. Then after that it'd be game on.
My .02 cents.
