Pacific Flyway????
Why is the pacific flyway's regulations more liberal than ours? Is it because califonia is included in that flyway?
proposed 7 bird daily bag limit, 5 male french ducks, two hens, 2 pintails, ect....

Re: Pacific Flyway????
Not only do they get to kill more birds, but places like California get 105 day seasons!
I believe they get more becuase of population totals in relation to the actual number of hunters and the birds they harvest. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Most folks in the Central Flyway have many more days and many more birds than we do.

Re: Pacific Flyway????
It's all about kill numbers per flyway. The MS flyway kills far and above more birds than any other flyways, and in fact in many years LA and AR kill more birds by themselves than entire flyways. Since there is less kill in other flyways, they are allowed longer seasons and more liberal bag limits. In the end it is supposed to all even out. Sucks since we are so hard core over here about our waterfowl hunting, but at least we get 60 days.

Re: Pacific Flyway????
give it 10 or 15 more years with the recent trends, and we'll be in a similiar boat to California. tons of great hunting land held by a few weatlhy individuals. then maybe we can get a more liberal season, and you me and the rest of the MS duckers can stand in line every day for a draw hunt at the local WMA.

When I was a kid in Nevada it 120 days and any 7 dux...lead was legal too. Hunters per duck has something ta do with liberal limits. Season openes early so most all dux still look like hens...Road trip...Mmmmmm

Re: Pacific Flyway????
Pacific Flyway (more so than Central/Mississippi) has a different population of birds plus a different population of bird hunters.
Pacific = Lots of birds, few hunters. Central = moderate birds, moderate hunters. Mississippi = lots of birds, lots of hunters, and Atlantic = few birds, lots of hunters. And that's how the seasons tend to be.
If you REALLY want to be 100% fair about it we could set it up so that each Flyway would get 25% of the total harvest. The Mississippi Flyway takes aover 1/2 now, so your season (and ours in the Central Flyway, but to a lesser extent) restricted. But hey, it would be fair, right?
